    Hey All!

I have always wanted a Tacoma and have been searching for a few months. Plan to pay cash and my budget is only around 18k. I live in Denver, Co and this will be my daily driver. Off road capability and reliability is what I'm looking for. I'm a big fly fisherman and want to get to places only off road capable vehicles can go. Anyways, I've found this 2006 Trd off road access cab with only 68k miles for ~20k. I can make it work money wise but worried about the rust. See attached pictures and let me know if it's a big concern or I can find better. I appreciate any input!

My Denver original 2006 tacoma is going in for the frame rust inspection on October 10th. my frame originally looked a million times better than that, but I am going to fail the test.....

if it had the frame replaced under the recall I would buy it.

There is still the head gasket uncertainty that comes with 05’s-06’s. Even with a new frame, I’d pass based solely on that.

    It only gets worse.from there...IMG_20170703_161809774_HDR.jpg

Mine is an 06 also. Having the frame replaced now.
I can tell you that you have 12 years from the date the truck was originally sold. If you don't have any holes then they'll just coat it and eventually end up rusting through anyways.

Ok, I appreciate all the feedback and will look for something better. Am I being unrealistic in finding a trd off road 2005 and newer for under 20k?

That's a decent amount of rust, but may be covered by this if it is bad enough.

If it has a 10mm or bigger perforation then your all set, it will fail inspection and then get a new frame. I bought my 2008 Tacoma back in July with 32k on it mint condition, except it had a slightly bigger then 10mm perforation. It failed inspection and now is at Toyota getting a new frame and a bunch of other free stuff!! LOL!!:D:D

Look in the right front corner behind the front wheel, where the AC water drips down, that's where my 10mm perforation is. This frame looks similar to mine so maybe it will have it also.
