I have a 2006 prerunner with 210K miles, and have an ongoing issue with sticking front brakes.

Last year the brakes were sticking after a hard brake and coming to a stop, or being parked and coming out of parking spot. This caused the rotors to warp. I rebuilt the calipers and it worked way better x 4 months (rarely stick a little). - replaced brake fluid as well.
Problem returned, so I got rebuilt calipers from Rock Auto. I replaced the brake lines just in case as I had this happen on old car were lines went bad internally. This helped for a few months, but now the problem returned.

If I tap the brakes they will unlock (most of the time). It only happens when I come to a complete stop. Does not stick while braking when I'm moving. It is only the front brakes, right side is worse than the left, but both sides stick.

I properly bleed them every time. I actually re-bled them yesterday and it didn't help....

The only thing I can think of is to replace the master, but wanted to ask for advice before going down this route.

    TIA!

It can be a master or the ABS actuator, but likely the master.

The master to the vacuum booster has an adjustment that requires a special tool (that comes with a new master) that measures the depth of the pedal to the master.

If currently there isn't enough free play, it will cause a drag.

If I were to adjust it, I would replace the master while I was at it anyway.

How often do you use the truck? I had purchased rebuilt calipers, and little over a year later I got my frame replace... the 10 days they were off the truck they corroded just enough to not back off and same thing happened; warped the rotors from drag.
Could be your master cylinder sticking too, but I doubt that is the cause.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
if one side is worse than other i don't see it being the master cylinder.
Take each caliper mount off and sand blast it clean. Get decent calipers not cheapies.

    Thanks for the replies.

I use it most days, so it doesn’t sit much unless we are on vacation. Which might be when it started happening again, but not sure.

I will re-do the calipers with Quality new ones and not rebuilt. This,is,going to be my sons truck in 3 months, so need the brakes to work well.

Any recs on where to get good quality calipers for the best deal?

Don't drive my truck much since I retired. Have replaced both calipers because they will rust and seize if not used once in a while. Now I start it, run it for a while, excersize the brakes, short trips to town, etc. at least once a week.

I also did a brake system flush/refill. Over the years doing brake repairs, having the fill cap off, etc. I'm sure there was water in the system, contributing to caliper/piston rust. The master upper is see-through so you don't have to open it, to check the level, for this very reason. Fluid color change is a good indicator.

Old thread but thought I would update it. I ended up getting Stop Tech calipers from summit racing and they have been great for the last year. No issues! Thanks!
