Changing brake pads at 2mm and dealer says brake lines rusted need parts which they will order, gave me a rental till parts show.

Also said shouldnt drive it without repairing frame rust somewhere and probably cheaper to scrap it.

Think anyone will buy it for a value? 135k miles.processed-4D1B7B12-3AC8-40EA-9325-5FFD8718CBE5.jpg processed-400A2143-B950-442C-8101-BA2DA1CDE332.jpg

    Runs great other then frame.

Would you do some frame weld repair on it if this is worse of it or would it last another few years possibly?

probably not worth repairing. the issue with rust is that you'll end up chasing back from the really bad spot to try to find good metal, and you can easily find yourself 6' away from the problem spot, and you've got multiple bad spots, meaning that chasing one bad spot back can lead to another spot, which leads to another spot, and then you run out to the ends of the frame...

it's best to replace the frame, but if you're not doing it yourself, can be cost-prohibitive.

Get a second opinion, but that looks pretty bad.
Others will chime in, meanwhile search the forums for "frame rust" and check some of the photos.

Someone may buy the whole truck as a parts source. To get the most money, you part out the truck. That’s a lot of work.

She is bye bye unfortunately! That's why spraying and maintaining with some type corrosion protectant Fluid Film, etc is a must.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Seems like may be best to drive it home and get something new to drive for safety. Then slowly look around to see if anyone will buy it for parts or project if can't get over 1k for it from dealer. Has 1 yr old tires, new brakes, 3 yr old ac compressor ;p

I guess it depends on what it will cost to replace it.

I would take it to a frame shop and get their take on it. I'm not opposed to fixing a frame and driving it.

If they charged $1k and you got 3 or 4 years out of it, I'd say it's worth it. If you go that route I'd have it Fluid Filmed yearly.

    My $0.02
