    What is this? Is it a part that needs to be serviced ( changed)? I've got 222k and it's never been touched.

    If your talking about that canister thats just a muffler for the EVAP system, it's not a filter.

    Does that have to be changed every now and again or is it kind of one of the things that are good for life

    Its a pulse chamber (essentially smooths out the pulses of vacuum) I believe. unless its leaking no need to touch it.
