Bought this truck about 6 month's ago and it runs and drives great. I think I'm going to try to hold on to it for the long haul as it only has 135000 miles on it. It leaks oil when it's full but after it loses about a 1/4 quart it slows down to an annoying drip in the drive way. I was going to replace the upper and lower pan gaskets and was wondering if anyone had any prior wisdom they could share. Also any chance its a rear main seal or something else. TIA

Not sure about the 2.7, but my 4.0 has a small rms leak. Just did the front main seal. Where is ur leak coming from?

It originally looked like the drain plug but thats just where the oil collected. Looks like from the rear of the oil pan.

Clean it up real well with brake cleaner and then look for the source.
Then I would pull the flywheel dust cover and look at the rear main seal area.

Likely the rear of your valve cover gasket where the PCV valve screws in.

    Replace both with OEM components.

Do you mind me asking what you paid for it?

Reason I ask is I just wrecked my 06 4x4 manual access cab and I am trying to work through things with my insurance company.

I picked it up dirty cheap from the second owner. Shes pretty rough on the body but new frame and low miles. $3300

I'll check the pcv and valve cover gasket.
    Thank you

Do you think I should do the pcv valve and see if it stops or the valve cover gasket at the same time.

Do both at the same time. The PCV valve is a pain in the rear end to get off without the valve cover removed because it will unscrew into the firewall. Like I said, this is one time you will definitely want to use OEM Toyota components in my opinion.
