Do these trucks need to have been sprayed with the rust preventative treatment in order to qualify for replacement? I have an '06 tacoma that was not sprayed, but has holes. They are saying the truck does not qualify.

    Thanks for the help.

You probably missed the cutoff yearwise. 12 years from date of first use.

My '06 had never been sprayed with the coating but it just barely got in before the 12 years was up and got a new frame.

Check around with different dealers near you. You might get lucky and one will do it despite being out of the time frame.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Unless you find and swap the frame yourself you have a parts truck. It’s done

Oh, it may have been im not sure. Last august they told my buddy it was 12 years but they could have altered it since then.

No, it does not need to have been sprayed. Alas, though, I think you're simply too late, and that's why you don't qualify. The window has closed for 2006 vehicles. The terms are 12 years from first date of service, or Jan. 31 this year. I wish it were otherwise, but I think you are out of luck. If anyone knows of any workarounds and exceptions, I hope they'll let you know.

I hadn't heard about that one. They extended the May 31 deadline last year to Jan 31 this year, but I hadn't heard about the 12 years going to 15. But nobody tells me anything.

How bad is the damage? One area or holes all over in critical spots? Maybe a body shop can patch the frame and buy you some years. I was just just around the back of the Toyota dealer I bought my truck from. They had two new frames there to be swapped.

12 years OR Jan 31 this year, whichever is later. Presumably you got it done before Jan 31. IAC, I don't think 2004 is even covered by this settlement, so perhaps you got in on some other deal?

October was before this January. Seriously, I didn't think 04's were covered under this particular settlement. Thought it was 05-15.

Does anyone know definitively what the current terms are for the frame settlement? There seems to be a lot of rumors flying around, and it should be pretty straightforward.

[edit: I just did some searching, and can't find anything. Search engines suck anymore.]

It was 15 years on the 1st gens. 12 years on the 2nd gens. OP you had until Jan 31 to qualify. You will have to seek other remedies now I'm afraid.
    Sorry...

Maybe your in service date is may?
Have you made a Toyota owners acct.
    https://www.toyota.com/owners/
It should show some info for you.
Toyota told me I was covered for 15 from in service after the crc I was pissed I kept my frame clean.
Pressed for written proof and was told to pound sand. Law suit got my frame.
Good luck hope you get a new one!
Mine with extras I added is like a new truck.

If you can indeed get it swapped on their dime, more power to you. As it stands right now, I am waiting on a final word from Toyota but it is not looking good. So after a week solid of weighing my options on my hard to duplicate platform, I have decided even paying for the new frame my self is the best bet. Right away I would take the brand new frame and go to my fabrication shop and have it seriously beefed up and well coated.

Then I will be set on this platform for many years which is really good because I know it inside and out, the slide in camper works very well with it and that is what I need.
