FWIW, the smoked ones aren't that different in color from the clear.

3M headlight restoration kit, followed up with wipes from Cerakote. Mine in this photo, were as foggy as the bad headlight in a previous post.

As long as you keep them cerakoted/waxed on a regular basis, they should stay clear. Parking in the shade or in a garage will also help.

Feels like consumers are still "catching up" to the fact that many car parts are now made of plastic and therefore leaving them parked to bake in the sun all day isn't good. Gone are the days of glass headlamp assemblies that were impervious to UV degradation.

Since this thread has been getting some traction as of late, I'm looking to pick up a new set of the "smoked" OEM ones and was wondering if anyone is aware of any Toyota promo codes or "free shipping" deals any time soon.

My 2012 factory lights leaked after years in the sun and heavy humidity. I purchased Alphrex Nova series headlights and sealed them up after confirming that won't cause issues with the warranty. Light output is greatly increased over stock halogen but they scatter light all over and mostly light up the area directly in front of the truck. They look incredible and perform decent, but probably aren't worth the price. I love them but unsure if I would purchase them again.

for that price and four projectors they better cook bread.

reminds me of a new BMW I drove. The fancy quick LED lights were useless blasting light immediately front nowhere else making seeing not possible

worse than a cheap old truck. Very odd.

would be interesting to know for sure comparison between things like that and a regular reflector bowl with high power bulb and harness such as two trucks with those different setups right next to each other or someone who had experienced both; the better bulb and harness being significantly cheaper.

and if called a starting point based on the price (if not an end point) would give people who do that first a point of reference.

This is helpful, unfortunately I bought some cheaper headlights and learned my lesson. They are horribly dim

Hard to go wrong with the 3M resto kit, and the Cerakote wipes. Mine still look great.

    Is that your plan now?

I think so the OEM headlights are much better
