I installed a new immobilizer ignition switch and it came with 2 keys. the truck when put in accessory everything works, the starter cranks but the truck wont start. Does the ignition and keys need to be programmed to the truck?

    As stated above, Yes.
Call a Locksmith and get pricing.
More than a few people have claimed it was much cheaper than the dealership.

Depending on what you replaced, you may just need to do this. I had to when I swapped the ecu. You basically jump 2 pins and let it sit with the key flipped to “on” for like 30 minutes

    It’s worth a shot.
Since it was just the ignition switch, It may not work.
The immobilizer ECU is likely looking for the old key.

When you install a new immobilizer ECU, I believe the above video works.
As it doesn’t have any stored keys.

I could be wrong. And it’s definitely worth trying.

Yeah. No promises but i figure it’s worth a shot. It’s easy enough to try before shelling out money for someone to fix it.

Well, you screwed up. You should have taken your new lock cylinder to a locksmith and had them rekey it to match your old key.

With the way you went, now you have to carry around 2 keys. 1 for the doors and 1 for the ignition and you probably can’t keep them on the same keyring because it will confuse the immobilizer and won’t start.

So, if you program the truck to recognize the new keys, then you should rekey both door locks to match the new keys.
