2006 Tacoma value help

Father inlaw wants to sell his 2006 Tacoma,Red,extracab,220k,v-6 4x4 with a manual transmission,need your opinions on the value,truck is in good shape,no rust anywhere,but he is a smoker,I would say overall good condition.

depends on your location, probably a easy $12-15k here in california.

 

I bought mine 3 years ago for 10k. very very similar to this one - 2006 4x4 v6 manual trans with 230k. it was in really great shape other than some paint fading.

 

Very regional market based.

Kind of niche buyer pool too, based on miles and smoke.

Shop all the online stuff within a couple hundred miles and look for similar. Run through Carvana and CarMax, knowing what they'd pay leaves room for a flip. Call his insurance carrier and ask payout if totalled and add a strong % to that.

Value significantly depends on location.

In my area up to 6 months ago 2nd gens w/ 200k+ we’re bringing over 20k. Currently the same truck is bringing 10-12k or less. The tides have turned on the BS covid pricing gouging.

 

It will only be worth what someone is willing to pay and there is a suckered born every minute. Price it high, ypu can always come down, but never go up.

 

how’s the frame?

did your FIL keep good maintenance records?

is he original owner?

if i were buying that’s what i’d want to know…

Frame is perfect,he bought it used 10 years ago,he kept up on the maintenance.

 

yeah i think the ~12k others mentioned seems to be in line due to the mileage & smoking…

perhaps you can try a bit north if you get it detailed and/or you can show to new buyer recent $ put into it (battery, tires, a/c work, etc.)
