Hello Tacoma brothers. I did a search and read answers all over the map so I thought I would start a thread and see if anyone knew the actual torque values needed to replace the carrier bearing on a 2007 TRD sport DCLB?
I am not sure if the torque values are the same on all Gen 2 tacomas or year specific.
I need torque for where the U-joint yokes attach to the front and rear diffs, the carrier bearing bolt yoke torque that holds carrier bearing in place, and bolts that support the carrier bearing to the frame, and whatever else may be needed.
    Many thanks

yeah this is one of the issues I read and watched vids about that were all over the map. One version says torque nut to 134 ft lbs, another version says torque to 134 ft lbs then back off and re-torque to 34 ft lbs, yet another says as yours does to torque to 134 ft lbs and then back off and re-torque to 51 ft lbs. I chose to go with the 51 ft lbs you mentioned.

Got the carrier bearing on last night. Ordered a Spicer brand bearing and also installed an Old Man Emu carrier bearing spacer drop kit since I noticed when I was underneath the truck that even though the truck had a 6" lift that no adjustments had been made for the carrier bearing. Darn Ujoints were the biggest issue. Getting them in without the needle bearings moving around and getting shifted became the challenge of the week. Got it all battened up and running now. Did a number of things I been putting off. Changed diff fluids, Oil change, carrier bearing replaced, lift struts installed on hood. Now I just need some time to put on my new tonneau cover I've had since last year and my bug shield.

    Good job.
And for peace of mind, 134 ft/lb and 51 ft/lb is correct according to the FSM.
Set to 134 first, loosen nut, reset at 51 and stake the nut.

Sounds like you are just Fine:thumbsup:

    Many thanks,
That makes me feel better. I was at one point actually considering pulling it back off and retorqing to 34 ft lbs as a couple of vids I watched insisted. Glad now I didnt!
