So I had my truck in the shop for an oil change and on the inspection sheet they noted "transmission fluid dipstick missing". I was shocked because it was just in Toyota for the leaf spring recall and their "safety inspection" didn't have anything noted. I went to the shop and they said it wasn't missing, it doesn't have one! I was told that was pretty common and most newer vehicles don't have one. Is that true that my truck shouldn't have one?

correct, the auto trans on the 2nd gen tacomas do not have a dip stick.

They have a fill plug and a procedure to make sure its topped off.
