I installed new OEM/factory fog lights this weekend, but one of them fails to firmly install. When I removed the failed light, I may have cracked the hole in the bumper where one of the "tabs" inserts. I am looking for ideas on what to do.

Option 1: remove the bumper which may give me more room to work, etc..

Option 2: insert a piece of plastic dowel? into the round tab of the fog light housing. This would act as an extension of that tab and may help secure it in place.

    Thanks.

First, the outside hole for the tab was not cracked. It's just formed differently than the inside hole. So - that was not the cause of the problem. I removed bumper to get easier access to everything. The issue on both lights was the inside holes in the bumper which accepts the tap of the fog light. They both did not have enough of an "edge" or ledge for the fog light tab to grab onto. My son recommended that I melt the plastic a bit and reform this edge/ledge. Worked like a charm. Fog lights are now snug and firmly installed. Photo is attached if you are interested.
