    Hey All:

2007 Toyota TRD crew cab 4x4.

Doing over 60km/h under light acceleration the truck kinda growls, as if the torque converter is locked up, and won't release. If i move the transmission selector to '4' the truck drops the gear, and everything is good. But of course it won't go back into OD until i move the selector back.

Is this a common thing? Is there an easy fix, can anyone give me an idea as to what the issue is.

    Thanks in Advance

The growling really isn't the concern. It's the fact that when i press the gas pedal, the truck doesn't really accelerate unless i push it way down where it does a harsh downshift likely to 3rd. It's like it's bogging down, and not dropping to the gear it should for light accel... No CAI...

the auto doesnt seem to kick down as well as some other vehicles and it can bog itself down IMHO.

I have noticed that the URD MAF calibrator leaning things a little has helped....when at partial throttle, sometimes I would get on the gas for a merging or avoidance manuever and the truck wouldnt kick down like i would expect, and just lug/bog itself down like a manual trans in 6th gear doing 30mph.

Maybe its placebo, but I dont notice the truck doing this anymore after the calibrator.....these trucks run rich and it shows.

Interesting, is there a trick to calibrating the MAF. Or do you need a special URD computer tool or something to do it? Hmmm, so sounds common, just forces you to push that throttle a bit more... I don't necessarily like it, lol.

May not be ur issue, but id get the trans fluid flushed or atleast a drain/fill.

As for the urd, gadget can preinstall a map for you......do a search tho, its not just plug and play.......unless a certain someone perfected his custom pnp kit :)
