    Long story short, I have been trying to sell my current 2012 VW GLI so I can buy a Tacoma. Need a truck for work.

    Sadly, private sales have been unsuccessful (damn flakers) which leads me to dealer trade in for the time being.

    I have been looking at 2013 DCSB Tacoma SR5's but saw this today.

    2013 DCSB Sr5(Local Canadian truck).
    $31,600 list
    6 speed manual only in shortbox DC.

    2007 DCSB Offroad (From USA).
    $25,000 list
    Automatic
    100,000 KM (60,000 miles)
    1 accident ($5,000) bumper/1 headlight
    Flawless looking outside.
    No rust on frame.
    Truck is from USA (I am Canadian).

    I have always loved the OR Tacoma's but up here in Canada you can only get an Off-Road in an access cab and I need a double cab.

    Another annoying thing is I would prefer an Automatic transmission, but all Shortbox Tacoma's in Canada are 6speed manual's. I love a standard tranny, but was unimpressed when I test drove a 6 speed Tacoma; and the horror stories worry me.

    This offroad DCSB is an automatic, which is insanely rare up here (obviously).

    Should I even consider a 6 year old vehicle with 60,000 miles for $6000 less? I am sure I could haggle them a few thousand off because the truck is an import, with highish mileage and a decent sized accident.

    I hate the thought of giving up a 2012 with 4 years of warranty and 7000km for a 2007 with zero warranty and 100,000km.

    The price for the 2007 would be a straight trade for my 2012 VW, while a new 2013 Taco will set me back $10,000 (taxes + PDI ect).

    Your thoughts.

    From what you have said, I would buy the 2007, and try to bargain the price down. First off, it sounds like the truck you really want. To that I will add the following comments:
    1. 60K on a well cared for Tacoma is nothing. My 07 has 81K and I feel like THAT is nothing!
    2. I would only advise the 6 spd for those who would not consider anything else. I have one, and I've only owned one auto in almost 40 years of driving. I believe I should have gotten an auto this time.
    3. The 07 has fewer electronic aids which may or may not suit you. My SR5 only came with ABS (which I have disabled). I really like the fact that my truck is free of all that.
    4. With the money you save you can fix all the remaining issues , like the suspension, and just have an awesome truck.

    My only focus would be getting the 07 for a fair price,...or better :D

    That Double Cab OR would be tempting in Canada. Get a better deal on that. All DCSB are stick only? I would get the OR if I were b/c I want the auto. You would have rare config in your neck of the woods good luck on your decision.

    Yes, I know.

    All tacoma's are 4x4 in Canada.

    a Tacoma Sr5 4x4 is not the same as Tacoma TRD Off-Road

    The Offroad's Rear locker is the main difference (offroad wise), whichthe Sr5 does not have.

    They look like new tread to me but I will not be keeping them.

    Either upgrading for the BFG AT

    or

    Cooper Discover AT/3 (unreal prices currently, and great reviews).

    in a 265/75/16 size with a mild 5100 or Eibach lift and level.

    21K would be a good price. I paid 18K for my 07 sr5 access cab, with 32,000 miles and mint condition,...just for comparison

    Buy the new one.

    The 07' is way over priced. I paid 10k less for a truck with 50k less miles and 2yrs newer. So it's no deal at all.

    You know,.....there is an obvious 3rd option: Look for a better deal on another truck. These two are not the last Tacomas on earth.

    Red hot glass pack muffler dumped preaxle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front and modified zuk mod coil spring lift for about 2" in rear paired with 5100 also. C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
    60k on a tacoma is nothing. If ur not planning on keeping it for 8+ years i guess i would get the 13 (actually i would never buy a new vehicle so i would only buy the 07 or find a better deal on another tacoma) but i have 166k miles on my 05 which i bought feb 11 with 142k miles on it for $13k (almost 4k below book value, i like getting good deals also bought an 07 rav4 for my wife this past feb w/ 97k on it for $12,500 that booked for a bit over 15k) they'll both last forever if u take care of them, but u don't have to baby the 07 around for 2 or 3 oil changes like u will "breaking in" the 13. its also gonna get a touch better mpg since it is already broken in and the final gear on the AT is higher than 6th in the MT. the "accident" might concern me but just look at the frame and make sure its not work, check and see how well the trim lines up and make sure something isn't out of wack, and drive it to see if there is any vibrations or if it pulls.
    if the tires have 5,000 miles on them or so, see how they're wearing to see if its out of alignment or anything.
    i'd also look under the oil cap to see if there is tar on the bottom, as a result from not changing the oil and "cooking" it.
    on a side note, i'd sell your car (or try atleast) cuz a trade in is a rip off. if you can get 25k for ur car walk in to the dealer and wave 2100 benjamins (or whatever $100 bills are in canada) in his face and see what he says about that. and try and pocket 4grand, or however much the difference is from what u can get from u car and how far down u can get the dealer.

    I don't believe you can get the off road in double cab. And we are talking about Canada here so 25 000 is right around what these go for. I paid 20 500 for my 2009 access cab 4cyl sr5 4x4 with 78000 km on it last year and that was a good price. Personnally I would shop around for the 2012s see what kind of deal you could get.

    Between these two I would get the 2013 you don't really need the locker and I love standard transmissions

    Go on Toyotas Canadian site, under double cab 4x4 there is no off road option just Trd sport and sport+leather

    You cannot get a Double cab offroad in Canada.
    You cannot get a long box 6 speed in Canada.
    You cannot get a short box auto in Canada.

    Do your homework.
