I thought it was the same? Also I didn't think replacing the bed would warrant a rebuilt title? Rebuilt/salvage titles are usually because of frame damage or worse right?

Please someone correct me if I am wrong.

If I remember correctly it's deemed salvaged or reconstructed when the cost to repair the damage is 80% of the vehicles value or more.

I think it may vary by state, but where I live it is, if the repairs cost more than 50% of the value of the vehicle it becomes a rebuilt title. In this case a $26,000 vehicle would have needed at least $13,000 in repairs

A "Rebuilt" or "Reconstructed" title means that the truck was Salvaged at one point but was repaired and signed off by Dept of Highway Safety as being deemed safe for highway operation. The insurance company told me that a title can also be salvaged if the owner refuses to take it back after the accident. So a title can be salvaged even if there is no frame damage

Interesting, did not know the part about the refusal. That must have been some pretty expensive repairs to put a new bed on. I believe here in GA the threshold is 70% of the value, at least that's what it was the last time I totalled a car about 7 years ago. I think it does vary state to state.
