This might be a long shot, but could someone post pictures of their radiator support splash shield front and rear (parts 51405-04010 and 51406-04020) from underneath their truck? I had to take my car in for some AC work a few months back but had some issues with the shop and ended up taking it to another shop. Now a few months have passed, and I just noticed that the splash shields are missing, along with a number of bolts/fasteners from underneath. I suspect the first shop took it off to do the AC work and just forgot to put it back on, as they also forgot to return my fuse box cover and I had to go back there to get it. Unfortunately, I didn't notice till just now and it's been a few months since the work was done. The splash shields are not cheap and I'm pretty pissed.

Only because I also have an 07 Prerunner, I have a few pictures. Not sure if they'll show want your looking for, but here they are. BTW, I had to replace the front shield after missing the jacking point "puck" and from the dealer it was expensive. I ended up finding one in a salvage yard. Looking up the part numbers the front shield is $160 while the back one is right at $100, without shipping.
Hopefully the shop can locate them.

    Thank you!

Unfortunately, the shop says they don't have that item which I figured was slim to none on them having it. Maybe it's time I just do some aftermarket skid plates or something. I'm just worried they didn't reinstall something they took off, as I see some screws in your pics that I don't have on my truck.

    I don't get it.

    1. that's called engine skid plate, not "radiator support splash shield"
    they're thin metal, stock
some trucks don't end up with them. Likely they were lost along the life of the truck

I've seen a shop forget an engine cover. Kept it in the shop. Wasn't intentional. Don't know if they reached out to the customer. Would be great if they did. Maybe schedule putting it back on at next service

that being said it's thin flimsy metal. While it may provide some aerodynamic improvement (and on some cars, cooling vents to reduce temps via airflow), it offers little protection and is often upgraded.

you can find them used all day for like $0-$50

also, it would depend what type of A/C work to know if a skid plate is involved
the first step in A/C diagnostic process is a evac and charge. Leak detection UV dye, getting R134a in to the correct spec.
This is done from the topside via A/C service ports high and low, and does not go near underneath of the truck or skids.
Then after that, the truck might come back if an issue happens, to start inspecting for that dye with a flashlight and glasses.

Unless it's really fucked. Like "hey I recharged it, and it's blowing hot"
then the next immediate thing is to put hands on the A/C pipes to see if one is hot and one is cold, verify blower fan working
and visually inspect A/C compressor behavior like looking at clutch on front to see if it's working, or shredded
    to see if compressor engaging
which may or may not require skid removal
It might not. Because they don't cover up everything and the engine bay is kind of roomy. Not to mention using inspection mirrors.

at the end of the day, let's pretend they don't have them for whatever reason. If you tell at the shop, it won't change that. Might not be reason to.
Could just approach the situation nicely.

"Hey guys, my skids disappeared. I'm not saying it's you. Could've been me. Could've been another shop. Could've been stolen. Could've been someone starting to attempt a cat theft who doesn't know what they're doing
but, by any chance if you're willing to check some point, can you please let me know if you have any spares sitting there"

another source of OEM for sale is folks with 4x4's upgrading them

I'll assume the truck has 100k
    OCI 5k involving skid removal
    that leaves many possibilities

though you can find skids used cheap or free, they might not come with bolts
that could take a trip to dealer parts dept, hardware store, etc.

some folks also put an aluminum silver TRD skid. Used ones may be bent. They're not that cheap and quite frankly, not sure if worth doing.
I think BPF also makes one that looks like it, but's stronger and I believe black instead of odd silver
might be more TRD ones that can be made to fit than just the 2nd gen option that's a bit hard to find
2nd gen I think covers front engine
other versions may be longer basically a 2-piece in 1, functioning as both

if it's 2WD and not getting beat on, might be worth considering lighter aluminum

Rustoleum by name has some good stuff. I've used plenty of other products from them but not the one you mention. However, after looking at condition of mine in my photos, I should give it a try.
    Glad you're good to go!

I'm going based on what the Toyota parts sites are saying the parts are called. And OEM parts aren't cheap.

Radiator Support Splash Shield | Part #5140504010 | Toyota Auto Parts (toyotaofcedarpark.com)
2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma Radiator Support Splash Shield 51405-04010 | Toyota Parts Center (olathetoyota.com)

The AC work done was to replace the compressor and some specific sensor (forgot what it was, it was expensive though). I called them and asked, considering they did forget my fuse box cover, but unfortunately, they didn't have it. And I doubt someone snuck under my truck to steal my guards.

It just pisses me off that those parts go missing after I spend a considerable amount of money getting my AC fixed at that shop.

    $0-50 is cheap.

if they forgot the fuse box cover then they forgot the skid.

cat theft is more of an IE thing.

every shop is expensive. Not every shop is good.
Happens at dealers also. Hire caveman for $12, break car, charge $230, mark up part, profit
