In the 3-4 years I've had this truck the brake pedal has always been soft. It has too much travel until the brakes are actuated, pumping the brakes makes no difference. I've been in other Toyotas and all their brakes are much firmer.

I've bled the brakes twice and its made no difference. A mobile mechanic friend of mine suggested it is probably my brake hoses and to replace them first and then rebleed. I've looked at them and do not see any leaking. I was suspicious of my master cylinder..anyone have ideas? TIA.

IMHO rear brake shoe adjustment is critical to brake pedal feel. How's the parking brake action?

I've heard of flexible brake hoses 'ballooning", absorbing some of that pressure. It might not be a bad idea to replace them.

Actually replaced rear brake shoes last year just in case that was an issue, but it didn't make a difference to the pedal. Parking brake is firm, holds truck.

I suppose I will try replacing the brake hoses I know there are 2 in the rear on the drivers side and the 2 up front. Stealership prices for the oem hoses are expectedly ridiculous would say Raybestos hoses from Rock Auto be ok for this daily driver stock trd Sport?

I agree with the 2 helpful previous posts. I got a much better brake pedal feel on my 06 by adjusting the rear shoes and installing StopTech stainless brake lines. The StopTech hoses were about $60 a pair.
