Hi guys, I decided to do some much needed repairs and upgrades to my Tacoma before I give it to my son. When I bought this truck about 4 years ago it came with an adjust a strut lift and 265 tires. I then decided I needed bigger tires so I installed some 285/ 70's on it and did a little cutting and installed some wheel spacers, and I was never really happy with the way it rode and I always had a shake in the front. I would say the shake was a result of using non hubcentric wheel spacers and BFG A/T load range E tires and stock A-arms.

After looking around on Tacoma World for a couple of weeks we decided to go with these parts.
17 inch countersteer wheels (gun metal gray)
    Total chaos UCA
    Fox 2.5 coilovers
I also want to get some different tires as everyone tells me that these E load rated tires are about impossible to balance.

I didnt think about making a thread till after I had started tearing into the truck so heres where im at now.

Why are you going with a UCA for an adjustable strut lift? You shouldn't need one unless you plan on doing a full suspension lift. The lift shouldn't be that tall, if it is, get a full suspension lift, or remove the lift you have for safety reasons. Lift right, not cheap.

Get rid of the spacers, then no need to get new wheels. Then get new tires that are practical in price and what you use the truck for.
Don't piss away money just to give your kid an impractical vehicle.

Fix the suspension if you have some silly lift in there but then remove the rest. Let your kid learn to pay for what he wants.

I say that because I paid for my own truck in my teens and paid for all the mods myself. That's the one thing I did in my rich household on my own until grad school and I'm glad. These are luxury items, not needs. Young people need to earn it not be handed it.
That and if I let my Dad mod my truck for me I'd probably hate everything he did and I'd remove it and sell it lol. It would be futile for him.

You misread his post. He bought Fox CO's for the front. Unless he edited it.

    @crawler07
What exactly are you doing for the rear setup? New leaf packs? blocks? AAL?

Or stock rear and just leveling the front with the Fox's?

It sounded like those were his list of parts he wanted to add to correct his mistakes, fix the ride, and give it to his son.

Well Packcon good on you for buying your own truck and modding it yourself.

My truck has had the ready lift, wheel spacers and 285's on it for the past 4 years I have owned it and ran it on right of ways for work. The plan is to remove the wore out ready lift and the wheel spacers and install new Fox 2.5 coilovers and total chaos UCA's and relocate the swaybar and do a drop on the front diff.

We have already cut the cab mount back and installed the coilover and the UCA on the pass side I will post some pics later.

JdevTac The truck has add a leaf in the rear and stock springs. My son is saving for some rear springs. We will be installing some fox 2 to 3 inch lift shocks for the rear as soon as they get here.

So has anyone installed these fox 2.5 coilovers? can you help me figure out what the above 1/2 inch thick aluminum spacer looking deals are for?
They are not mentioned in the instructions anywhere.

Ok got both side finished and when I was taking the drivers side apart the upper control arm would move a good bit if you grabbed it and shook it. I assumed it was a worn stock UCA bushing, but once I got it apart I realized that the sleve that goes through the tower is worn (not the through bolt for the UCA). I went ahead and bolted up the new coilover and Chaos UCA and tightened it all up to spec and its now tight. Have you guys ran into this? Will it be a problem down the road? how the hell do you fix it? I guess cutting the entire coilspring mount off the frame and building a new one would work, I just dont have the time for that now.
