My 2007 Tacoma has a bad hesitation around 2500 rpm when accelerating-a flat spot as you might say. During brisk, not full throttle, acceleration it sputters (hesitates) around 2400 to 2700 rpm-sometimes it might do it a couple of times before getting above that rpm.

The truck: 2007 Tacoma CC V6 auto 4x4 TRD with 297,000 miles

This has been going on for quite a while-maybe 50k miles or so. No CEL, in fact the truck has never thrown a CEL.

    Ideas?

I have an 05 and it's been doing the same thing for a while now. It's an old post but I was wondering if you figured out what was causing this?

Not yet, company may be about to buy me a new one so I'm not going to worry about it for now.

Bringing this back up. I've got a 05 prerunner v6 6speed. Mine hesitates sometimes, not all the time, but more often than not. Kinda like a studder when taking off and when changing gears. I've cleaned the maf. Any ideas?

Back up. Truck still hesitates. I've pulled the throttle body off and cleaned the hell out of it, installed new maf sensor. Still doing the hesitation thing, no cel. Any advise would greatly be appreciated. Could it possibly be the accelerator sensor?

I believe it's the whole accelerator pedal assembly on a 2005. There is a plug on the throttle body, but it's not removable. Hope I don't have to replace the throttle body.

When's the last time you changed out your spark plugs? v6 copper plugs should be changed every 30k if I recall correctly.

I checked plugs, coil packs etc. The plugs are iridium's. Everything looked good.

Hey guys, I've changed my spark plugs, the MAF sensor, a couple of O2 sensors and my truck is still hesitating bad during acceleration. I checked all the fuses in the cab of the truck and under the hood and they're all fine. I actually replaced the EFI and fuel pump relays in the fuse box under the hood. I've been told that I need to check my fuel pressure and if it's low, I need to replace the fuel pump. I'm trying to avoid doing that if at all possible because it requires dropping the fuel tank. I've had this issue for a couple of years and haven't had any codes pop up through the "Check Engine" light. Thanks in advance, I'm desperate to get this fixed. I can't stand it anymore....embarrassing at times how bad it hesitates.

Mine still does it, but it's not all the time, every now and then. I looked at my spark plugs, but they looked good, may change them anyways. I replaced the maf sensor, cleaned the throttle body and even replaced the tps, "gas pedal". I noticed the gas pedal made the biggest difference, just because it does it less often than before.

I have the same issue on a 2006 4.0 Tacoma. Rhythmic hesitation between 2K and 2.5K RPM. I have replaced Air/fuel sensors, cleaned MAF, replaced throttle body and no difference. If I run mine out of closed loop by disconnecting the Fuel/air sensor it runs perfect..

Dealer cannot find anything wrong but it hesitates bad in that RPM range, about every two seconds all the way through to 2500RPM.
If anybody finds the solution please let us know. My next thought is to replace the ECM just to try.

Wow that's really odd . If you swap out the ecu for the same model truck and it's still happening I wonder if it's has something to do with the injectors or ingnition packs .

I can't figure out what it is. If I give it a little more gas it will stop or if I accelerate slowly it will not do it at all. I can get on a long hill and hold it right around 2K to 2.5K and it will do it over and over for a mile. It drops about 100 rpm then it comes right back every few seconds. Not like a miss, more like I'm feathering the gas pedal.

I would think maybe fuel pressure or fuel pump but if I disconnect a sensor and keep it in open loop it will run perfect. It has never thrown a cel. I think I will buy a accelerator pedal just to try, next will be ECM. If it was a miss I would try coil pack or injector but it's not a miss at all. It has been doing this for at least a year or more.

    Fun stuff....keeps me entertained.

Well, I traded mine in, got a 2014 tundra. Best thing I ever did. But I figured out, the previous owner took the instrument panel apart, taped the cel up, so you couldn't see that it was on. Had the codes read and it was the crank shaft position sensor.

Oh man what a SOB!! damn. well to others here in this thread, even if you are the original owner of the truck, maybe you can try to scan to see if the scanner picks up any codes even though your CEL is not on.

I have a scanner on it now but no codes. The CEL works cause it does come on when I disconnect sensors troubleshooting. I think if the dealer would just hook a scanner to it and let me take them for a ride they could figure it out but so far they act like it's normal and they can't get it to hesitate when they drive it. I had a toyota tech ride with me once and they could see the tach going up and down and felt the hesitation but said they couldn't determine what was causing it. May cat clogged, maybe pedal, maybe ECM.... So for now I just buy parts, try them and then sell them on ebay.
