Hello everyone - I'm in the market for a used truck and came across 2 that I am interested in. Both are a few hours away and wanted your opinion to which you would prefer to check out first. the 2008 has only 125K miles and is listed for 13.5K while the 2012 has 155K and asking price is 16K. Both are very nice looking trucks but I checking to see which is a better deal.

11 year old truck or a 7 year old truck. Kinda makes it an easier decision

Buy whatever truck you can afford to pay cash for.

I'm really happy I went with a DCLB > DCSB. I've taken bikes, slept in bed, big loads - the longer bed is definitely worth it for my needs. If my priorities for offroading were higher, I would sacrifice bedsize and do DCSB, then deal with the short comings as needed. That said, I would choose the 2012, because I like the facelift and interior better.

You've got to post more information, mileage can be a crap shoot.

General example truck A and truck B.

Truck A: mileage is at 70K, lived in the city(stop and go traffic) 2 previous owners, spotty service records.

Truck B: mileage is 110K, lived in east bumble f**k(all highway miles) 1 owner, has all the service records.

I went through a very similar situation before I bought my truck a few weeks ago.

Post the links to the truck.

I’d go with the 08 looks way better imho and it may have the factory mechanical limited slip which is always nice. The 12s are kinda get a bad rep for the air pump failure and going into limp mode and making you have a bad day. The 08 don’t have that mess.

I’d go for the 08 as well, even though I prefer the 12 front end.
As long as the 08 is mechanically sound.
Looks don’t mean shit until you drive the truck and look it over.

If you have the resources put it on a lift or have a legit mechanic look it over before you buy it.

I say neither one if these trucks are located in the rust belt states. Fly south to buy one and drive it home.

I disagree. A diligent person shouldn't have a problem finding a clean example in New England.

Thanks everyone. Decided to go check out the 08. If all checks out getting it for 13k. Carfax has all service records from 0 to 125k miles and all done at toyota dealers. Truck was bought last year and owner decided to sell due to moving

I would have the owner send you more pics, especially of the undercarriage and frame before making that long drive and waste your time. Don't just settle just because you want a new vehicle. Personally, aside from the bed size, the 2012 seems to be a much nicer truck. The owner seems to at least shell out some $$ for add-ons, especially for a softopper whereas the 2008 as a unmatched hideous bed cover along with hazy headlights. Sometimes the exterior can reveal how the truck was maintained. Heck, even to post a for sale ad with only 3 pics to me seems lazy. Don't let the Carfax service records fool you because alot of TW owners, like myself, do our own routine maintenance or repairs that won't show up on any carfax. I have a feeling you will be disappointed in person on the 2008.

Looks like the 08 might have already sold. In that case I guess the choice is pretty clear! Just take off the bull bar, tube steps and all the extra side chrome, and really look at everything for rust.

08 is gone. Most likely because of price, not because it was better of the 2.
