2008 Headlight Retrofit

Man ive been pulled over atleast 6 times for not having a front plate on. i swear they look for the smallest thing to pull you over.

 

So I just bought some headlights on craigslist last night and was going to redo a bhlm, but I love the look of this! Is there a write up on how to do this? Or a simple explanation? Looking bad ass man!

 

I do believe there is a member from socal selling BHLM's. I think its Rcfreak?

Well I guess I will stop neglecting the picture progress on here any longer here are some pics of my process


and yes i know i didnt block out my tag in evey pic i dont know why i did it. It dosent really bother me.

 

Here are some different looks I made in CS5 for fun

the plan is to put blazers in the fogs and black them out too so one of these pictures represents that

 

When putting the fist one back together i noticed the oem adjustment knobs werent working and come to find out the plastic piece the screw goes in and out of is completely stripped out.

SOLUTION
I cut half the material off and glued the top piece back on and on the reverse side i jb'd a washer and nut together and jb'd that to the oem bowl so now its metal screw on metal nut for adjustment.

there is tons of info on how to start a project like this on "HIDPLANET" and there are some people here who know a thing or two and could help you along the way and I would be more than willing to give you some pointersif you decide to tackle this mod. first point TAKE YOUR TIME. I was in such a rush from excitement to finish when I started that I made a HUGE rookie mistake from the get go so just go slow and take your time.

The 2nd gen oem bowl had great horizantal and vertical lines on it to which you can use to refrence cuts and hole drilling. the main thing is to make sure when you mount the projector to the bowl is that you have it percectly horizantal as you can see in one of my test pictures. I could go on but this post would get tooo long.

So as soon as i get them on and everything ziped tied up good and tight it starts to rain hard so these are some rough shots of the finished product.

one unfortunate thing is one of the lights didnt turn out 100% level but its minor and i will be able to live with it.

Would a 50w ballast make the lights brighter if I wanted alittle more vision?

 

Not bad. But you're too damn close to the garage to see the cutoff clearly. When I was adjusting mine I shined on a wall about 60ft away.

 

yeah well its been raining pretty hard so i snapped a quick shot. I wasnt about to go stand in the rain so i plan on doing more when it stops.


So at what distance do the two beams converge onto one point? or should they never cross. I guess im afraid of spacing them to far apart or too close
