So i've been dealing with this for awhile and it's starting to get annoying. So when i pull the latch on the inside it clicks and unlatchs the hood, however i have to get my fingers between the gap and pull the hood up to get at the other latch. Is there and adjustment somewhere to make it actually pop up like it's supposed to?

Yo ur suppose to have two. "Bumpers" on each end of the hood. Crank them out 1/2 turn and try it. Make sure your latch is lubed. If not enough turn some more. Double check your hood alignment after.

X2 on lubing the latch. I've seen them start to stick but if you spray some pb blaster or similar stuff on there and work the latch it should start to work correctly.

With the hood closed try pushing down if it moves in the down direction tighten the bumpers if not they are fine. I agree lube the shit out of it and keep trying it

    - Billstein 5100's all around with OME 885 coil springs. - K&N Air Filter - HID Headlights & Fogs - Kenwood Stereo & Infinity Speakers - CB Radio, - Fog On Anytime mod - Anti Tailgate theft mod. More comming...
I've had the exact same 'issue' for over a year.

I'm not yet at the point that it's annoying. In fact, I like to look at things in a positive way so I see it as a "theft deterrent". Though I know it probably is not going to deter or prevent anybody from getting into the engine compartment if they really want to, I just like to look at it that way instead of letting it bug me.

EDIT: I'll probably also try to lube the hell out of the latch. Seems like an easy fix.

my truck does this. it has never bothered me a bit..but i just went out to satisfy my curiosity. i put a quarter turn clockwise on each black rubber bumper..and BOOM! it works. funny.

i didnt like the idea of coating things with lube. in my experience, it collect grit and ends up worse.

Ours wasn't a bumper problem - ours was just stuck. We tried everything here and at other internet sites, but what finally ended up working was having my 150 pound son sit on the very front of the hood while I pulled hard on small Vice Grips put on the cable just behind the release tab.

Counterclockwise rotation made my bumpers move out, which fixed this issue on my 06.

    Thanks TW!

+1 for the adjusting rubber bumpers. Worked like a charm on my '01.

Thanks all. I've been living with retarded latch release for several years. I could still barely pry them up with my bare fingertips, but this is a bit more uncomfortable at 0 deg F! The latch lube mostly did the job, but a 1/4 turn CCW of the bumpers gave me more finger room. I just figured the cable stretched (just like bike shifters and brake cables), but never got motivated enough to research where the "cable adjuster" was. BTW, the latch lube I used was PB Blaster Garage Door Lube (does not gather dirt when dry). I suppose lithium grease would last longer though.
