Do you know where the frame VIN engraving is located? Is that a way to check for a replaced frame?

I'm gonna guess that the hood and roof have shot paint. I could be wrong, just basing off what I *think* I see in the first pic. How much that matters to you, if I'm right, I don't know.

Also, CarFax is GIGO. I've had my truck since '14, and you'd only find random things like registrations and one recall. Things I do myself or have my interdependent mechanic do aren't there. CarFax can be a data point, but inspections are a better judge.

Thank you all for all the great info in a short time. The guy sent me a video with the engine running, and no ticking or funky noises. He said he replaced the valve cover, air switching valve, U joints on driveshaft and rear shocks.
    I think it a go.

    I'll keep you informed.

    Thanks

It will work between a week and three months then leak as badly or worse.

^The 5-lugger RWD trucks were spring under axle, both reg cab and access cab, both 2.7L and 4.0L.

Frame looks good. But...With 5 owners you don't know how it has been maintained and treated. You need to thoroughly inspect the trans and engine..

Yes, yes, I bought it and I already doing lots of work to it. Mostly maintenance.

Spark plugs, body throttle cleaning, oil change. I’ll be doing the rear differential service as well as the transfer case and coolant service as well tomorrow.

Got a set of Goodyears tires.
    Tinted windows
    CarPlay radio
Modded the crappy seat since it was so uncomfortable. I posted some pictures in another thread.
Painted the front bumper and grill as well.
Order a new rear bumper and hitch ball.
Will do the hitch wiring harness too next week.

And the hood and the top of the cabin’s paint was really bad, so I sanded down and will repaint it tomorrow.

I’ll post some pictures in the next few days.

    Great forum and great information.
I’m doing all that maintenance with the guidance from this forum. I’m really handy so the guidance was very helpful.

The truck itself is in good condition.

    Thanks again.

^Yes, probably happened during frame replacement. Looks like the label on leaf is still fresh.

Not on a 5 lug. Hopefully you didn't buy fluid for that.

Thanks for the information. One less thing to do.

I also need to do the power steering fluid change too.
    Did the air filters replacement.
And I already replaced the headlights too.

Next week I’ll be doing an auto dimmed rear view mirror and a dash camera.
I’ll post some pictures in the next few days.

I drove it about 200 miles the other day and I got about 25 MPG, before doing any work to it.
    Very impressed with that.

Hopefully it’ll run for a while.

I always threaten to cut my truck if it doesn't behave.
