Hello all. I am looking to purchase a 2008 Double Cab SR5 with 64,000 miles. I have researched the different packages, SR5, TRD Sport/Offroad,etc. I know the one I am looking at is labeled an SR5 in the back, and it also has the TRD offroad logos on the side. Is it possible to have both? It is 4x4, but looking at pics it looks like the different buttons such as the locker switch and such on the left side of the dash are blank, which I would assume means it doesnt have those TRD Offroad options? Im a little confused? Any info? Thanks

this truck may be fake trd, if the locker is not there. the locker makes the trd offroad in my opinion. if some one will mislable the truck, they might have abused it as well. I would say keep looking and reading, learn all you can before you buy. It took me three tacomas to be in the right truck for me. A 09 sr5 is way better than an 08 sr5, because, trac came in the 09's on. Trac makes a drive axel behave like a limited slip. A mod exists to allow trac to function in low range for 4x4s, this allows a nonlocker to climb like a locker, huge difference in offroad performance.

I know for my use, the standard 4x4 is fine. I really just need the clearance and tires that allow me to launch my drift boat in some rougher launches than my subaru. Im sure its still a pretty capable 4x4 without the Offroad package right? Im not doing any crawling, or anything like that, just the occasional steap and rough boat launch on the rivers. Think the standard SR5 4x4 is capable?

trac is a important feature for me. i think i would probably go for the 09. however it all depends on price and condition. i eventually just bought new, to get exactly what i wanted. they don't seem to lower the price on used. for 1k per year, i'll take brand new. between 08 and 09, 09 has trac, 3k price difference is steep. 08 is a modders perfect start. in the end it is a very personal choice, most owners mod at least a little sonthing to make it thier own. knolwedge is power, read this site to learn more about these great trucks. good luck and have fun.

Thanks guys. Im not much of a modder, probably just put good tires on it and thats it. I just need a good daily commuter, and something to handle towing and some crummy roads and river landings. I think itll work out just fine. Thanks again. Im sure Ill be using this site quite a bit in the future.

If it's a true offroad, the locker button will be next to the fog light button.
Looks like a sweet truck which should serve you're needs, but I would try and get the price down. (kinda pricey for a 6yr old truck)
