2008 Tacoma ABS Light

Hey all, every month I get a ABS light along with the brake light. I tried reading the code with a obd2 scanner from my local auto parts store but says the codes were found. The lights go away if I turn the car off. Read a little about how it can be anything. Wondering if anyone had any suggestions or ideas. Thanks in advance

 

A generic OBDII scan tool will only read codes from the PCM, most will not read codes from the ABS module.
You need one that does all systems or at least has ABS functionality.

First thing you need to check is the brake fluid level as low brake fluid will turn both the ABS and Brake warning lights on.

 

Gotcha, thanks for the reply. I checked the fluid when the light first came about a couple months ago and it was good but I’ll definitely check again

 

There's also a method to flash the codes out on the ABS light, kinda primitive but it may give you an idea of what's going on.
