Sent the e-mail to Toyota of Vineland already citing you as a source of referrals. Thanks Maverick491. Look forward to seeing a copy of the invoice...:)

as far as getting a good deal goes...my buddy told me a little trick as he used to sell cars for a couple years. tell the salesman you have herpes, and that it is transmissible by sharing a pen and signing agreements with too many numbers. i have yet to collect my herpes and test this out, as i'm quite happy with my taco so i wont be talking to a salesman anytime soon, but i'd be interested to see if it works for any of you

haha finally the reaction i was looking for from someone. i was wondering how many dumb things i'd have to say and how grotesque and disturbing i needed to be to leave somebody speechless, altho i should try it again cuz george dubya never knows what to say either and he IS from texas, so i'll go ahead and assume that the entire state of texas has a speech impediment haha :p

    Bush is from Conneticut...

Bush duped Texas into letting him be Govenor. Then he duped the United States into letting him be President. So, that makes the majority of the nation as dumb as the majority of Texans. ;)

Luckily - I'm not even from Texas. :p I still know a ton of Texans that are brighter than that guy.

    Hey Maverick491,

No one from Vineland Toyota seemed to want to deal. No response. SO I called and spoke with the Sales Floor manager Felix Afanacio or something. Can you tell me who the right person to speak with?

Most dealer guys want to play the game and not get serious, even those so called "Internet Sales" A'holes guys..

ANy help from you for me to become an official member with a real, physical "Tacoma" would be appreciated. One can only pretend to be a "virtual" Tacoma club member for so long and soon or later one needs to ACTUALLY own one to become a legit' member. And I want to become a legit' member...:(

Sorry, I totally forgot that I had said I was going to look up all the numbers on what I paid for my truck.

OK, my truck is a 2007 access cab, 4.0L v6 4wd with DZ (six disc changer, 6 speakers, and steering wheel controls), OC (TRD Off-Road package and all that comes with that), TO (v6 towing package, which is a class 4 hitch, suplimental oil cooler 130A alternator, heavy duty battery, and fully functional 7 pin connector), CF (carpeted floor mats and door sill protectors), and a really nice dealer installed pin stripe.

Sticker on all that was $28,739 plus tax and tags.

Invoice on that according to Edmunds.com was $26,001.23 (after you add in the $330.00 TDA (toyota direct advertising) fee which is on the invoice of every new vehicle but edmunds does not include it)

I paid $26,001.23 for my truck less my trade, plus tax and tags.

So Toyota of Vineland will sell a truck at invoice. My truck was also a "Locate" and came from upstate New York, and they did not try to hit me with some kind of stupid ass transport fee for going and getting the truck.

The sales person I dealt with was Steve Barber (856) 696-5900 ext. 415 e-mail sbarber@toyotavineland.com

Here is what any car dealer doesn't want you to know. The guy holding up the deal is always the salesman not the manager, or the guy in the back office. A car salesman gets a percentage of the profit on the sale as their commission. If they sell a car at invoice, then there is no profit, so (atleast at Toyota of Vineland) they just get a straight $100.00 for inking the deal.

Well Steve is a realist. If he doesn't screw arround with me, and just makes the deal I want happen, then I am out of there in an hour and they've got my deposit. Then he spends another hour with me signing all the paper work when I come back in to pick up the truck, and I'm gone again. He's spent two hours with me to make $100.00. fifty bucks an hour is still good money, and on those two days he still has 7 hours each day left to sell a Sienna to some soccer mom for sticker price.

Toyota of Vineland seems to have some pretty high turn-over, so he may not still be there, but give him a try. If he's not there anymore, fine, the company policy hasn't changed so pick any other sales person, be up-front about what you will pay for the truck, what your trade is worth, and remind him that the less time he spends trying to screw an extra hundred bucks out of you is more time to screw the next guy, and that he can still make $50.00 an hour off of you.

    Hope this helps you out.

I can't speak for Texas but your 08 w/ a 4cyl is going to cost you more than my 07 dbl cab with a 6 cost me (new in july).
I think I had a similar options package too.

However, I spent 3 months fighting with various dealerships on & off and then when I got serious I had done so much research and 3-4 visits to the final dealership. I think they just wanted me to leave them alone.

I just sat here and crunched the numbers for you.

assuming that you are still looking for a 4wd access cab, 2.7L engine, with SR5 #2, aluminum wheels, spare tire lock, carpeted mats, and bed mat. Then I would go to Toyota of Vineland and tell them that here are all the options you want. You want it at $22,500 (which is invoice plus $15.00 for the sake of easy numbers. Tell them that Faulkner or Carousel or who ever is at $22,650, and that if they do it for $22,500 then you'll leave them the deposit right now. The key to making this work is to not screw with them or waste their time. You have the numbers, all you need from them is a yes or no, if it's yes, then leave the deposit and tell them to call you when the truck is ready for pick-up.

That puts you at $23,956 out the door assuming that title and tags is the same price in vineland that you mentioned in your post about faulkner several days ago, even if the fees are slightly higher you are no more than $24,000 Out the door, so to answer the question that you asked way back in the begining of this thread Yes, your offer was reasonable, and you should have no trouble buying this truck for that price.

    Keep us informed.

What does texas have to do with this. He's in PA and we are talking about a Jersey dealership. I'm confused.

That sounds about right. My truck is the exact same thing minus the 4WD, and I paid just a bit less than that (I could have gotten a better deal, but I didn't pay sticker).

One trick - you don't want them to throw on any extra packages that you don't want.

My truck came with "lifetime tire warranty". This means that for normal wear and tear, I get free tires for the first 100,000 miles. Sounds awesome doesn't it?

WRONG - the tires that they put on there are 60,000 mile Dunlop Grandtrek AT20s. These tires are by far the worst tires that I have ever had on a truck. Why haven't I changed them out, you ask? Because if I do, then the warranty is null and void. I only get my free tires once these are out the door. I drive them pretty hard, so I expect them to be gone by 50,000 miles.

I also got the sound shield, lug locks, spare tire lock, vehicle lusterization package (what crap), chrome aluminum wheels, leather wrapped steering+shifter, and upholstry protection. At the time I thought these were all good ideas, but in reality - I could have definitely done without them. In total I think they added $2000 to the price of my truck. I would rather have spent $2000 on 4WD.

    Live and Learn.

I am sure I read it incorrectly somewhere and thought that he was in Tx.
Who knows. Mark one up for me on the Retard board.

007: why are you so anxious to burn through your tires? when you do wont they just replace them with more dunflops? Seems like you're doomed to have bad tires until you hit 100k. or just bite the bullet and lose the warranty and get something good

Sounds almost too good to be true, get it in writing and then grab your pen. I live in Rochester, N.Y and that would be a deal 24/7.

Actually, after they are worn down, I get $250 of reimbursement PER TIRE to have them replaced with whatever I want. :D

Thanks for your input Maverick491. I will not deal with Vineland Toyota for reasons I cannot disclose on this thread. Talk about pressure tactics,,, tse, tse!! :(

I have done almost exactly as you described, but via e-mails & phones. But the response was not what I expected. Also they wanted $149 Doc fees which PA dealers do not have. Making the long story short, I am going to seek other Toyota dealers for my purchase.

    Maverick491,

Thanks yet again for such detail information and your helpful foresights. I printed out your responses and kept it in my folder for reference when I DO visit (hopefully) a Toyota dealer who would want to do INVOICE sales transaction.

As for what I need to do now? See my other response to your later posts..... As described in my other post, I may have to take my business to somewhere else...

Thanks Maverick491. I may have to look you up and buy you a beer if I am down in your neck of the 'hood.
