    Hi all,
New member, first post, not a car/truck guy...be kind!

Looking for advice. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2008 Tacoma with 63,000 miles on it. The frame is rusted out.

I've been quoted $23,700 by Toyota for a new frame (not going to happen). Nobody will brace it (wouldn't have that done anyways).

Do I have any options? Does the truck have any trade in value? Would somebody buy it for the engine? Any advice?

    Thanks!

P.S. The backstory is long and it doesn't matter at this point. I'm well aware of the recall and class action suit. When I got the truck from my elderly mom (who had every single maintenance check and oil change at the dealership yet they found it suitable to spray the frame instead of replace it) in 2020 it was past the recall window. Appeals by another Toyota dealership to headquarters and and claim with the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection proved fruitless.

    Very few.

    Not much.

Yes. The engine and transmission, along with a few other parts, are worth some money.
If they are in as good as shape as you say with the maintenance. They are probably worth $5k together.

Buddy of mine is selling a 07 trd sport 6 cylinder AC 2wd. Put your newish engine in there (I legit don’t know if it’ll fit!), keep the good frame/body and part out the rest. All it takes is a flight to California and an ‘n’ day drive home.
