I'm not a truck genius and this truck is not on a Toyota lot. It has low miles and the body is in great shape.

What should I have checked out or look at on this 2008 before I make the decision to purchase it? It has the sport package and a six speed manual.

If anyone here could look at the add and then give me some advice, I would appreciate it.

It is about an hour and a half drive from my house so it is a big more difficult to have my mechanic put it up on a rack and look at it.

    Thank you.

If those are the actual miles on it jump on that thing, you won't regret it

Doesn't it seem a little low for the year? The wheels and tires are awful looking. Can you give me any tips on what to look for when I go take a second look at it? I've read some things about the 6 speed manuals having problems. When I drove it it felt nice and smooth. I don't know any mechanics in the area but I'm thinking about taking it to a tire/muffler shop to have it put up on a rack to look under it and have someone pull a wheel and check the breaks, clutch area.

Check for rust around the cats and general frame rust. If it's surface rust, don't fret unless it's an unreasonable amount. A mechanic is worth the money if you're uncertain about something. Call a shop and ask if they do pre-purchase inspections. I wouldn't pay anything higher then $150 for one, but that's just me. Good luck!

It does but you never know the situation that it was in, I fully agree on the chrome wheels man but the tires could be repurposed ya know. Always take a look at what "lift" was installed because you can tell some things that could start to go... If you go check it out be thurough and you can take it to any shop for a inspection. I have the lazy person tranny so I can't speak to the manual sadly.

It looked like the standard blue bilstein shocks that were on it.

Car Fax lists it as one owner and it was served regularly at Rodland Toyota which is a good Toyota Dealer in the area. I just can't wrap my brain around someone trading in a truck like this with low miles.

Going to take a drive back up north tomorrow and run it by a shop and see what they say. I think this truck is over priced by about $2000 simply based on the year (2008) as you can get nice 2011's for a similar price.

Heck, you can build a new 2016 at the dealership for about $31,000. I'm not a fan of the new body style though maybe it will eventually grow on me. The Tacoma is a bit bigger truck and boxier looking. Drove one the other day. Man! Nice ride!

The wife has given me the green light on a new one. I'm a naturally suspicious person when it comes to used cars/trucks. I'll likely sit down with my guy at Toyota and order a new 2016. I missed the Sept. 30th deadline for ordering the 2015(I like the body style better on the 2015). Oh well, can't beat new. In the meantime, I'll probably test drive this one again and tease the salesman a bit. Ha Ha!
