Clearly ToNA isn't going to do a thing. You need to get a more powerful force behind you.

Since you're in Orlando I'll bet that one of the TV stations there has a consumer advocate. Try contacting them, tell them what ToNA said and ask them to help you.

Also contact your state's AG office.

I'm wondering if these are isolated incidents or if yota has an oil pump problem. Makes me nervous.

OK. Still another question on my mind is if the video is of the Tundra at your home how is it that you have Toyota Tech stream on your computer which cost alot of money plus a yearly subscription to top it off? Someone who could afford that would not be driving a v6 Tundra to begin with.

Yeah this guys seems not to have a lot of knowledge of mechanics but has tech stream?

BTW OP, get yourself a couple bags of floor dry, lay it down over all the coolant and oil and let it soak everything up for a couple days. Sweep it all up, throw it away. Put down more. Then run your broom and sweep it around mix it up, and let it sit more. Then if you still have stains use your purple power/super clean and a pressure washer.

Not to rain on parade but how many here had seen oil pump on Toyota truck? Not much to fail there.
What can go wrong with oil pump
    1. lose crankshaft bolt does not hold gear powering the pump. Most people dont realize pump gear is not locked on crankshaft it is sandwiched.
[This is common especially when people replace pulleys for aftermarket ones, or to install supercharger, or when replacing front crank seal]

    2. Gears strip on pump gear or on gear sitting on crankshaft. (filter clogged and bypass did not open, piece of metal got stuck on the pump gear.

    3. pump creates groves in cover thus reducing pressure but you need those groves to be really deep and really long to have meaningful pressure drop.
(wrong install, crappy oil, long change intervals, high RPMS)

It would be nice for somebody to show what had failed in oil pump that caused engine to seize.

    Yes.

My bet is that something clogged an oil passage to the affected bearings, either that or maybe it was run low on oil or without oil in the past, and all the bearings wore, causing a drop in oil pressure.

Which is usually what happens when filter fails. there is a picture of fram filter failing and piece of orange media stuck in one of the nozzles which led to engine failure.
unfortunately on 98 k miles truck proving anything is almost impossible.

Maybe it's what he wants to drive?

A buddy of mine is a stock broker and clears a couple of mill a year.
He drove a Mercedes 190 that he bought at auction until his regional manager embarrassed him into upgrading. He moved to a BMW 325i and he's had it for 10 years.
His wife drives a Silverado 1500.

Stuck in one of the "nozzles"?
Are you referring to one of the 5/6/7/8 holes in the base plate?

The large threaded center hole is the outlet. The perimeter holes are the inlets.
If you saw a photo with a piece of orange media stuck in one of the holes, it was set up for the photo.

Also, used oil filter media is not orange. NEW oil filter media is not orange.

That's fine and all and I'm not attacking his income or anything else, I just know that most people who would waste money on such expensive software as tech stream would most likely not buy a v6 base Tundra. And I dont blame your friend for owning a 190 as they are specialty autos which is why he bought it at an auction.

I have been using FRAM filters while doing my own oil changes for a very long time, & I have NEVER had an issue with them so I think it's jumping the gun just a bit to suggest that the filter caused this guy's engine to die. I'm pretty sure that if it was common for FRAM to have problems, that autozone would not be selling them any longer if that was the case. Just sayin...

Actually it was a piece of shit that he bought at a repo auction for around $8k.

The Mercedes 190 wasn't "specialty" anything... it was Mercedes' competition for the Mercury Topaz. The only thing it was "specialty" at was breaking engine mounts and eating front suspension parts.

He hated it, but since he only lives 5 miles from his office, didn't feel the need to replace it.

    The 190 replaced an '84 Toyota 4x4.

Ya... two houses on the harbor and 3 boats... and he's only owned 3 cars since 1985, plus his wife's cars.

Yes oil nozzles inside the engine ( our engines have them too) but it was engine for something else

It was not a setup. Guy was rebuilding engine after failure and did what should be done (namely take a part and find out what exactly what have failed)

Dont care about (I used fram and works for me) . All it takes is one time.
OP can say its oil pump failure but there is nothing in that pump to fail unless you introduce something else to it.
Anybody who seen oil pump on Toyota truck will tell you the same thing. There are only two parts in it and if pump spins with crankshaft it will pump oil.

Exactly like that. The filter is definitely Generic, sold to resellers brand, I've seen this so many times before that its kinda normal. Still won't guarantee quality at all.

Oil light never came up. no DTC either. I checked the oil many times after the truck started to make noises and a few seconds before the blow and the oil looked great all the time.

I don't see possible to find someone more aware about the important a CEL or OIL LIGHT is. That's why I do have a techstream..

I was running a live test to the truck using techstream as you can see in the video to see if it would detect any issues. The noise was still strange and I couldn't identify exactly where it was coming from. I needed to see a DTC, that would had help a lot... Didn't appear, all tested looked normal.

I even ran a compression test using techstream, normal results.

I think that obviously toyota misplaced a few sensors on these engines. So my recommendation is not to trust entirely in a CEL. If you listen a weird whisper on your truck, pay a good attention at it.

    Dude. I drive a V6 because I don't need a V8.

I definitely could afford a V8. But decided not to, If I wan't power I run my mercedes. That's it.

About the techstream, I'm not so extreme on spending money for diagnostics.

    I got a clone here:
    http://www.obd2usa.com/2012_MINI_VCI_FOR_TOYOTA_TIS_Techstream_V7_10_030_p/sv47.htm

worked flawlessly, did anything I needed and you can even make a few mods on your tacoma if you like.

I'm guessing jiffy lube crapola oil only changed when the light comes on instead of every 3K..... even at that I know a guy who never changed the oil on his toyota truck and does a smoky burnout every time he gets in it, and he had over 70k miles on it. true story
