First post here. I just picked up a new 4x4 2009 Tacoma. The eBrochure indicated that the 4x4 model included the front skid plate as standard equipment. I assumed that the front skid plate would be the silver anodized aluminum plate shown on the brochures. My truck does not have this skid plate. My dealer claims that metal shroud under the engine is the "installed steel" skid plate for a 4x4, that the aluminum "option" front skid is "just for looks".

Can anyone who purchased the 2009 4x4 4cyl tell me what skid was installed on their Tacoma? without part numbers and part diagrams, it's hard to argue. Speaking of which, are there parts lists available online?

    Thanks.

    LG

The thin black metal (painted) is the stock skid plate. Its more of a mud deflector cause Ive smashed mine in. The aluminum one is about $360.

I guess thats what Toyota charges. I bet you can find after market ones for less.
