Hey everyone well just got of the phone with Toyota USA and the told me that the extension warranty of my 2009 Tacoma sr5 double cab expired in September 2020, and everything after that will be out of pocket expense. Everything else on the truck works perfectly fine.

    235 000 miles

    Part # 51001 04702 = $12,890.51
    Part # 51001 04490 = $ 14,696.31
I would never pay for this. ^^

My best bet would be to find a frame, cut the piece and weld it

That frame is well on its way to become a safety issue.

You can find a solid and clean used frame for a few thousand maybe even close to a thousand, I’m not sure what those prices are that you included, new as well as installation cost? Seems crazy high to me.

if you sell as is be prepared to take a massive hit.

It freaking bother me so much, I am the first owner. Time to say good bye I guess can't find anyone here in Montreal, Canada that would touch the frame unless I buy a frame n instal it brand new. Cost over 10k about.

    Frame recall done
Yota dealer gave me the recall and sprayed the secret sauce , still feel it's a bunch of Hogwash.
Yota knew they had a problem year's ago , so why would you buy another Yota if Corporate is saying Fu.
Like we always said around the Campfire they think there shit don't stink , enough with the Shenanigans.
Its a bulletproof truck , reminds me of Jim Jones drinking Kool Aid.

problem is i don’t think these vehicles were ever intended to last this long. back in the day if you got 10 years or 100k on the clock it was the exception not the rule.

toyota’s weren’t the only cars on the road with rotten frames. my dad had a 68 ford country squire station wagon that ran like a top. i remember him telling me he shed a tear when he drove it to the junk yard with the a/c on because it was unsafe to drive the kids around in after 10 years because of a rusted frame…

You can buy individual frame pieces at toyotapartsdirect.ca.

The entire frame is about $10K CDN (variations of course based on engine size etc.)

$10K + tax is expensive, but not the price of a new truck. If you can do the work yourself - better still. People would put that kind of cash into an old mustang and never think twice. The truck is worth what it is worth to you.

As Avotaco said Toyotas weren't/aren't the only vehicles with frames that rotted. My brother-in-law has dispatched two Sierras for the same reason.

My $0.02 (which gets rounded down to $0.00 in Canada)

A hot dipped galvanized frame would increase cost of the truck by only $1000. I would have gladly paid a thousand more for that protection.

Does anyone make a better quality aftermarket frame? I don't need it, but it would be nice if I ever do.
