2009 head light question

are all the TRD head lights on the 2009-present smoked?

So yes , they appear smoked , similar to older models that have the BHLM done .

 

No it did not start untill the 2010 models I belive

 

Maybe this sale went up in smoke ?

I guess it depends on your definition of "smoked". I always thought (and of course, I could be wrong!) that smoked meant a light tint on the lens covering the head light. My 2010 OR, before I did BHLM and the retrofit had the black chrome, but in no, way, shape or form, looked "smoked". Here is my front end before I did the mods:

Yes, in 09+ TRDs, the surround is glossy gray/black. Lens is clear. It's part of the "facelift" Toyota did in 09, along with the LED tail lights.

 

Top is pre-'09 , bottom is '09 - '11 , so to me they looked smoked , but I do agree that it is not the actual lens that is smoked , the lens is clear .

 

Wow. Didn't realize how big a difference it made! Looking at it that way, I bet that older style chrome bezel would have looked really good with the chrome grill.

 

I think only the TRD models came with that option IIRC. And BTW, if somebody is selling some smoke, count me in!
