I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
The second post of this thread has a picture of a sticker Toyota has been putting just inside the door jam on the drivers side in the '09s. It seems some of us have the sticker, some don't. The sticker states that the payload capacity of your truck is 290lbs less than what you thought.

2009 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab Magnetic Gray TRD Off-Road built in Mexico in June 08, no sticker. Fully loaded, tow package, Bluetooth, power everything, etc.

Great for snow skiing trips, hauling dirt bikes, mountain bikes and chores around the house. Love the V-6 and the 5 speed auto. Love the simple and easy in/out of 4x4 switch. Nice stereo, like the satellite radio much more than I thought I would.

    Complaints?

    1. Needs better brake feel. Pedals require far more pressure than any other vehicle we own, including the motorhome. This seems to be a common complaint among Tacoma owners. But if you step on the pedal the Taco stops.

    2. D rings in the bed - the factory should have put more in. I'm doing it myself.

    3. Cleat / rail system is not suitable for hauling dirt bikes IMHO. Which led to #2 above. Best would be if they would simply beef up the cleat / rail system.

What do you mean power everything? Surely you don't have power seats do you? I'm just wondering because my wife wishes my truck had power seats and I told her they didn't come that way.

    Power windows, door locks, etc.

No power seats. I prefer the manual seats anyway.

    Hope this helps.
You take the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) subtract the truck weight and the balance is your payload.
EX, My GVWR is 5450lbs, the truck weights 4458lbs (with cap and full tank of gas). I can carry 992lbs. Now you start subtracting my weight 200lbs, my friend 150lbs, cooler 60lbs. Now you would be left with 582 lbs of payload.

As soon as I get back in town, I'll have new springs installed... YAY!

Is the 4-spring pack a free dealer installed upgrade available to new Tacoma buyers?

I cannot figure out if I am eligible either. I have a 09 Taco AC 2WD 4Cyl. I did not think much of it but the first week I owned it I used it to move and I thought I heard it "bottom out" several times. I am getting read to move some more stuff in the next week and I will pay closer attention to it. If I am eligible, I would like to get it before I drive 400 miles back with the bed loaded.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is a TSB?

    Thanks

    I have the sticker.

I just picked up my truck on Friday. V6 access cab / TRD off-road / tow package.

Made in California on March 9th.

My tacoma won't be getting much "truck" use the first year I own it, and I figure all this sticker / tsb silliness will be worked out by the time it matters for me.

    I love my Tacoma :)

My neighbor just bought a 2009 4X2 access cab 4-cyl. Except for the color, it's identical to mine. Built October, 2008 in Fremont California (mine was built a month earlier at the same plant). I have the sticker.....he doesnt. We both have the same 3-pack springs. Go figure!

To heck with the TSB...when the time comes, I'll add an extra helper spring. I'd rather do the work myself.....then I know it's done right! Despite the hype and the $100+/hour Toyota shop rate, I've seen some mighty sloppy work come out of there.

is true though the majority of people who own trucks use them as trucks. and the ridgeline is not a popular item here lol:D
