I have an '09 Regular Cab 2wd with a 4 cylinder built 10-08 in Fremont and I have "the sticker". It says Load carrying capacity reduced by 290 lbs. I don't know of any special options installed on my truck that would cause this drop.

I am at my dealer right now and asked them. They told me because my truck is not a 4x4 or prerunner. Don't those have a different capacity than 2wd already. No reason for lowering the capacity. I think that it was just a BS answer.

Is the TSB for this an automatic, FREE fix if you go to the dealer and ask for it? Is there a procedure you have to follow to get this work done?

I cannot find a link to the TSB to print out that shows 2009 models on it. When I was at the dealer yesterday, I told them that I had 30 bags of soil in it and my truck was bottoming out (it did). They asked me how much weight and I figured 1200 lbs. They got my manual out and said the payload with 2 people is only around 900 lbs so yeah I bet it did bottom out. Well, those bags of soil are only 20lbs so,
30 bags x 20 lbs + me = 850 lbs. The payload capacity for my truck on the toyota site is 1320 lbs.

yea they're trying to tell me that since my truck is an '09 it doesn't qualify, even if it was mfg in aug of '08. I only have 2 leafs, and it does not handle well with a load in the bed. so far, they don't seem to care.

its not the istalled options. its the required weight that tow package should tow. not the tow package itself

Why have a tow package if you cant tow anything with a load in your bed?

Mine in an 09 DC longbed Prerunner V6. It was bought in California Aug. 08 but built in Mexico June 08. There is no sticker. the GVWR is listed as 5850. As I recall, 1/2 ton trucks were always around 6000 lbs GVWR, so that's not bad for a "mini" 1/2 ton.

Maybe, but mine was in quarantine for 90 days at the dealer before I bought it so I'm probably safe.

Also, I am very careful to haul no swine in my truck. :D
