Apparently, I hauled some swine in my Taco late last Saturday night. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it until I woke up on Sunday morning!

Second that. I hauled my ATV and camping gear all weekend with no problem (quad is ~700lbs itself, plus extra fuel, gear, my fat ass, etc.), highway scale even said I was slightly overweight (axle loads were in spec though...), but no ride problems.

Also, the VIN will tell a story about your truck. There is a thread on here somewhere, Try a search for "VIN decoder"

Canadian AC SR5 2.7 4X4 - No sticker like other Canucks.
But the truck has a very stiff ride, rough while towing, even with weight in the box. I think many on this site that complain about the 3 leaf pack don't realize that for every 1 person on this site, there are 10 average joes who would hate the stiff ride from the 4 leafs. I think the sticker is to get Toyota out of having to upgrade the leaves. And the sales brochure says, "Specifications may change without notice...."
That being said, the squeeky wheel gets the grease, and if you're having problems with your rig. A good dealer should definatly be able to help.
No need to soapbox like this is a conspiracy.........

My '09 had the yellow sticker on the door jamb and it said I could haul "4 less pounds" than normal. No kidding. I just removed the sticker and paid no attention further than wondering why someone took the time to even place it there.

I was at teh dealer yesterday and sitting in a Sport DC LB and saw the sticker that said it was lowered by 2kg or 4lbs...me and my friend sad why would you waste the money to put that on there? I mean 50,000 trucks all with that sticker...that's gotta be at least 10K Toyota could be saving. Not much but it's a pretty penny even for them.

Got an '09 base regular cab 4x2...no tow pac...born 12/08 in Cali. It has the sticker. The day I bought it I asked the dealer....they were clueless....imagine that. You'd laugh if I told you what they "thought it might be".

Anyway, I'm hesitant to change anything, as it rides quite nicely (for a truck) and easily carries everything I need it too. Not sure a 4x2 regular cab is even covered under the TSB anyway.

09 v6 SR5 DC/SB 4x4, A/T, tow pkg. Built in Mexico 12/08 and no sticker. I guess Im lucky my 09 us actually an 08 cause Im thinking about pursuing the rear suspension TSB - if for no other reason than to get the bilstein shocks all the way around in addition to the 4 leaf rear spring pack. ;-)

09 4x4 Reg Cab no tow package (no extras that I can tell.. Floor Mats) 3 leaves (From Cali). I have the sticker. Hand written 4.00 (LOL)
Since it is a 4x4 I kinda want to leave the springs as flexible as possible. I do however tow a few things (boat, jet ski, and trailer). I loaded up my riding mower in the bed, and drove about 40 miles (1/2 on dirt wash boarded and hilly roads), but it rode smooth. I didn't notice it was even back there. Not much of a droop either. My Nissan Frontier drops allot more then the Tacoma does. I am not sure if I want to make it a rougher ride or not.

A big front end loader filled the truck bed with wet shredded wood (& etc) compost until it poured off on all sides. It was loaded cab high. The distance from the top of the back tire to the body (at the wheel well) was 2.5 inches.

I bought concrete blocks for a retaining wall, and hauled 900 pounds of blocks, myself and a passenger to check the carrying capacity as stated in the owners manual. The distance from the top of the back tire to the body (at the wheel well) was 4.5 inches.

In both of these cases the truck rode comfortably, performed well, steered fine, and was perfectly satisfactory going over speed bumps and railroad tracks.

The truck has the 3 leaf spring pack and there are no identifying marks on the springs at all. It also has the sticker saying the capacity is reduced by 290 pounds.

I did my best to get an explanation from Toyota but they are absolutely refusing.

I'm wondering if there is temporary insanity at Toyota, or worse if the springs will completely fail someday.
