Hello, I am considering purchasing a 2009 Tacoma.
65,000 mi, SR5, brand new tires, brand new brakes front and rear, new leaf springs. This truck is super clean. Took it to my mechanic and had it up on the lift, not 1 leak. Carfax is clean as well. The Dealer won't budge on the price, I already got him to lower it by $1,000. but he will not budge anymore.
I don't know much about tacoma's but i really like this one and I don't have anything to compare it to. Just looking for a little free advice.. tnx, Kevin.

Go to www.kbb.com and look up used car values in your zip code. Simply plug in all of the options, mileage etc., and you can get a much more accurate estimate of value in your area.

Welcom to TW! Depending on your area, that seems to be the going rate. Whether or not you think it's worth it is up to you. I personally wouldn't pay +-75% of the original price for a 7 year old vehicle, but that's just me.

ASSUMING you are looking at a 4X2 double cab vehicle I'm getting $22,800 as a fair price in my zip code. If it were a regular cab, access cab, 4X4, and depending on other options the price could vary considerably up or down.

If you have the money, just spend another 10k and get a new one. That price seems to be what they are going for though, these trucks hold there value pretty well

When j was looking for one my neighbor had an 11 with 90k miles wanted 19k. I almost got it and just out it off for a few months and bought new.

When I was at dealer buying they had a used one. White manual sport. It was 5 k less than my 4x4 off road in mgm which i wanted. They hold their price but I'm not paying within a few k used when I can buy new.

Tnx everyone for the input. Marshall: its an Access cab and 4X4. With all of my research it seems like the going price.

Deciding between new and used is a tough call with any pickup and especially Tacoma's. If possible I do think buying new is better financially in the long run most of the time. But at times new is simply out of reach and used is the only real option.

KBB says my 2007 4X4, DC TRD is worth about $15-16K on a dealers lot even with 170,000 miles, around $12K in trade. I like my truck and have complete confidence it will be good for at least another 100,000 miles. But I wouldn't buy another truck just like it at that price. But someone will. That is the good news. Almost $21K used for a 2009 seems like a lot, but down the road it will still hold it's value.

You left out some very important info in your first post for anyone to really comment with a knowledgeable response. Now that we know it is an Access Cab 4x4 SR5, is it an auto or manual?

OP where are you? At that price in CO that truck would be sold very quickly.

That seems like a reasonable price for one that clean.

Here are the 'if's' as I see them.........

If it passes your mechanics inspection

If it's exactly what you want body/driveline wise (bonus if color too)

If it is priced fairly for your market

    If it fits your budget

If it's a longer term keeper (5-10 years)

Then I'd be inclined to buy it over any '16.

I paid 17k for an 05 with 120k on it if it makes you feel better. If the truck wasn't so clean I may have thought twice,

I just bought my 08 SR5 Access Cab 4x4 TRD Offroad for $18000 with 16000 miles on it, original owner. truck mechanically is like new, there's a couple minor dings that you have to look close to see.

of course, then I put $1200 worth of new tires (5 x KO2 in 265/70-16), and a $800 used snugtop on it, so I guess I really paid $20,000 :)

I don't see your location but, I'll pass this alone to you.

Family member just purchased a 2016 Tacoma model 7513 today. That is an SR Access cab, 4 cylinder, manual transmission 4x4. It's options are utility package, which lowers the price because content reduction, floor mats, door threshold protectors & addition window tinting. He paid $25,800 (and some change) out the door. That included all tax/handling.

To me with 65k more miles, 7 years older & no factory warranty the 2009 is priced higher than I'd pay. But, it's actually worth what people will pay for it.

the SR models had really stripped interiors compared with the SR5, I thought? like, my 2008 SR5 has fairly nice comfortable adjustable bucket seats, a decent stereo, power locks w/ remote and alarm, cruise control, V6, and stuff like fog lamps.. mine is a TRD Offroad so it has the 16" alloy wheels with bigger tires, taller suspension, bilstein shocks, lockers, etc.

Like others said I would pay a little more for a new one if you can afford it or would want to go that route.

Myself I couldnt justify paying so much for a used old vehicle.
