Hello everyone, this will be my first post on the forum. I hope you all are doing well. I have a 2009 Tacoma with a 2.7L 4-cylinder engine and a manual transmission. When I attempt to put the truck in four-wheel drive, the symbol on the dash just flashes and will not turn solid.

I removed the four-wheel-drive actuator, thinking this was the problem. I soldered the connections and re-greased it. The actuator works when I put 12 volts to the two prongs on the far left with the fork pointed up.

I reinstalled the actuator, but no luck—still no movement. Next, I replaced the four-wheel-drive switch, but that did nothing. With the actuator uninstalled, I tested the voltage at the connector and was getting power at the center connections but nothing else.

I'm aware there is a rubber line connected to the actuator. Is that a vacuum line or simply a breather tube? Could that be preventing the actuator from working?

If anyone has any ideas on why it's not engaging and would be willing to share, that would be much appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Alder
