    Hi everyone,

My truck would just stop accelerating for a split second or two then picks right back up, one time it happened three times simultaneously, kinda frustrating as I have brand new spark plugs torqued to spec, maf sensor and throttle body is clean, no vacuum leaks, clean k&n air filter and no trouble codes whatsoever.

With your MAF and TB and plugs being good my non expert opinion could possibly be something to do with fuel delivery. Good luck!

Try some complete fuel system cleaner (has methanol to trap any water and cleans injectors) and see if it clears up.

Thanks guys I’ll try some good fuel system cleaner.

I do however use 8oz of mystery marvel oil once a month in the gas tank around 3/4 empty before filling up, just a general maintenance. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you have a dead spot in your throttle position sensor.

Hi @fxntime what does this mean exactly, I need a new throttle body?

see if this might be similar........

put this in a couple other threads too...this is what fixed the hesitation\acceleration issues in my '06...."fuel pump" edit: well crap...link doesn't look right anymore...let me see if I can find it.

anyway...here's the text from that thread in tundrasolutions:

"OK, A follow-up post after a year of troubleshooting my miss/surge at 2000~2500 RPM with no CEL ever...

So my local dealer never could figure out my surge/hesitation between 2000 and 2500 RPM. In my own mind I ruled out the fuel pump because it ran fine in open loop and also ran fine at all other rpm's even under a load. After replacing the TB, A/F sensors, removing cat's for test, spark plugs, ECM and accelerator pedal I decided I would take it to a dealer an hour away for a second opinion. Took the truck to Pearson Toyota in Newport News. Now I don't like dealerships so keep that in mind..

There I was greeted by a very nice service adviser who teamed me up with a Tech. The tech heard out my long story and then we went for a ride where he asked me to drive and duplicate the issue. Same as the other dealerships.. Then he took my truck along with another tech and they went for a ride to read all the sensors. 30 minutes later they sat down with me and showed me the pages of data that all pointed to the fuel pump. Surprisingly it was fine until 2000rpm then dropped off pressure and that's when the surge started. At 2500 it was fine again... After a year and many trips to the dealer it took this tech less than 10 minutes to correctly diagnose my problem. $120 diagnostic fee which I was more than willing to pay and off I went.

The repair...Bought a Denso replacement pump from Amazon for $98, came with filter and was exact match to OEM. Took me right at 45 minutes to drop the tank (very easy), replace the pump in the existing module and reinstall the tank.

    Truck runs perfect......"

Why this and not a bad plug? Never heard of this before but I have similar issue to OP and I replaced my plugs but it still occasionally happens

It's either going to be the pedal or the TPS, neither are that expensive. The RPM's are dropping to idle because it's losing signal.

And no, you don't need an entire throttle body. While I have never lost a pedal position sensor I've had to replace several TPS's in the past on several different vehicles. None ever failed completely, they just had dead spots.

    *UPDATE*

So here’s what I did a week ago, I took out my k&n filter and gave it a good cleaning. Wasn’t dirty just a bit dusty. Once it was completely dry I reinstalled and still felt like I should do more. So I reached down to my throttle pedal and disconnected the harness while the engine was idling, wouldn’t rev for about a minute or so. So I turned the engine off and back on again, everything was back to normal. Up until today there has been no hesitation. Keeping my fingers crossed that I fixed the issue.

There's no throttle position sensor on a 2nd gen V6, just a throttle body assembly.

Try duct taping a fuel pressure gauge to the windshield and go for a drive, see if the pressure drops off when the problem happens

Pull the ign coils back out and check them closely for cracks or carbon tracking

What kind of plugs did you use?
