    Hello,

Recently after coming back from a Camping Trip I noticed my truck started to have what I think are some transmission issues. I would press the gas occasionally and the truck would rev up but not accelerate I would then have to let off the gas and press the peddle back down for it to engage and accelerate felt like my truck went into neutral while in drive. This happened a few times on the way home i would also be on the highway driving in Higher RPMs the truck would feel like it was stuck in a higher gear and would not exceed 100km/h, without putting into ridiculous RPM's. when I would come to a stop the acceleration was poor with the foot to the floor but would still seem like it was shifting Ok in the lower gears.

After getting home and parking the truck it seems like it drives in the proper RPM's on the highway after letting it sit overnight but would still occasionally act up. I am wondering what would have caused this because it is obviously not normal.

After getting home I cleaned my MAF and it seemed to help a bit but it seems the transmission will slip more often when I have been driving for a while. I took it in today to Toyota and they checked the fluid and did a test drive and said it was "shifting fine" the truck would seem like it was ok during the first 15 minutes or so of operation then would start to slip again.

The truck is not throwing any codes and the guys at the stealership said everything "Checked out" when doing there tests.

    176,000KM 2009 Tacoma.

    Any Recommendations?

When's the last time the fluid was changed, could just be over heated even if it's at proper level.

Otherwise with 176k it's possible your clutch drums are just worn out.

The issues started to arise after I was trying to get through a decent snow patch and was in 1st. bouncing off the rev limiter for a few seconds after climbing a hill, when I got back to the bottom i started having issues.

The engine bogs down during this condition?

Not at all if anything it seems like it revvs up way to high and on my way home felt like i was stuck in a high gear driving 100km/h at 4000RPM Then after parking it and driving it locally it seems like its Ok on the highway but after driving it for a little bit it will start to slip occasionally i would go to press the gas and it would rev right up and not accelerate like if you are in neutral and rev the engine, after letting off the gas i can press it down again and its Ok.

I’m going to stick with a TCC switch (it’s the cheaper alternative at the moment). I hope someone knows for sure and can help. Good luck! Maybe @gearcruncher

Got a similar issue with my 2008 Tacoma V6. Transmission stuck in 4th gear. Couldn’t get over 40mph without the RPM’s going over 2300.

Stopped for about an hour, resumed my errands and transmission shifted normally.

Check engine light came on. Stopped by a local auto shop and they pulled a code: solenoid.

Have an appointment at 8:00 this morning.
I know @Steves104x4 mentioned the TCC Switch.

    Solenoid vs Switch?

Any help would be appreciated. I am in the process of selling my house and this is my only vehicle.

    Thanks!

I think the rubber o-ring on the solenoid (in the tranny) dries out and may stick because of lack of oil. Popping the valve out and coating the o-ring in oil should un stick it unless the solenoid itself is bad

I had my Tacoma Baby checked out at a local garage. Turns out the transmission was 2 qts low. I have no idea how that happened.

No fluid leaks. No fluid transfer. Shifting normally.

I did the transmission flush not too long ago. I was pretty sure I had not left the tranny 2 qts low.
I’m wondering now if you are correct. Or maybe the shop that did a BG flush a few years ago left it low.
    Thank goodness it’s running normally.
