Just verifying…Are you sure your putting it in the transmission or the transfer case

 

Did you get any replies on the scanner ?
That would be the logical next step before removing the transmission pan

 

Yes, through the fill plug with the 24mm bolt.

 

So the next step in this process of elimination is scanning for codes .
Scanning for codes is going to tell us if there are any issues with the solenoids inside the transmission .
The reason this is imporatnt is because Reverse inside this transmission does not use any solenoids , but making the truck move forward uses a linear solenoid .

If you had a transmission pressure gauge , I would be asking you to test pressures in reverse as well as in the forward range so we could compare to what Toyota says is good pressure

 

Do I leave it in neutral or put it in park to engage the A/T temp sensor?

 

Got it in A/T temp mode and got the right amount of fluid in now for sure. Still won’t go into drive. Reverse still works.

may be time to move into what else may be the culprit. I’ll need to read into the solenoid and the part (valve) not sure what valve but it’s the valve that may or may not be clogged upon taking the pan out. That will be tomorrows project. Call it a day for now.

It has all the diagrams and information should your next task be tackling the valve body.

I would like to have a scanner on it before you did that. It would help get you going in the right direction.

Wow, I’ll be way in over my head if I think I have any chance of performing any project like this. I may be a little bit mechanically inclined but most of the work I do is on snowmobiles, little bit of atv work and minor vehicle maintenance/repairs. This looks pretty complicated.

 

You won’t likely be taking the whole thing apart.
Just removing the “stuck” solenoid. That’s where a scanner would help.

 

If you have a cell phone , you can take a thousand pictures .
If you can rebuild a snowmobile carb , you will be fine going into the valve body .
We can help along the way .
We have been down this path hundreds of times .
I have my fingers crossed you just have stuck valves and no smoked clutches .
I am suprised nobody has a scanner up there .
You can make a lot of money with a scanner these days lol

 

Can’t thank you enough for your time your continued support, it means a lot. Very kind and generous of you. I will try to get a scanner handy again tomorrow. If not I may just take the pan off and take a look at the valve body, check to see if any valves are stuck. That would be good news.

Nunavit is bigger than Europe but only has 33,000 people.

He said it was “Cold and windy today” and has pushed back pulling the valve body until tomorrow. He has no place to work other than outside.
We will see how the weather is tomorrow, maybe he will update us then.

Its cold and chilly where I live today .
I was there a few years ago .
Walking to the neighbours house , your eye lids freeze shut . Its incredibly cold
I can only imagine how cold it must be up in Nunavit . Yesterday , he mentioned it was only 3 degrees and yes , thats almost summer

Tomorrow in Nunavit can be a long time . Its daylight for nearly 5 months
