Well, now I have to look and see exactly where he is.
I knew it had to be up in Canada, as he speaks of kilometers and not miles:rofl:

I’m off to Google Earth to see just where our buddy lives:thumbsup:

    Good day,

sorry to keep you guys waiting, it’s been raining here so I have not had the chance to take the valve body out. Definitely right amount of fluid on there. Still only moves fwd a little bit with the correct amount of fluid in. Hoping that is a good sign. Reverse still works perfectly fine. I have just had it parked for the last three days.

    cheers

You can get a pan gasket and filter at NAPA.

Finally nice out today, have taken the pan off, I am thinking I take that middle piece out to check the filter? Also I think the solenoids, I do have a diagram handy to help point the solenoids out. I’m just wondering if I take the valve body off for this.

You already got the pan off so prob past this. But just seeing if before you checked the overflow, you ran it throw the gears while running, like P, R, N D and back and forth. May not matter, but may help see fill converter.

You do not have to take the solenoids apart . I would suggest splashing them with brake clean before you put them back in though .
How about a picture of the bottom of the transmission pan ? Thats going to give us an idea of the condition of the transmission .
What was on the magnets ?
Was there any alluminum in the bottom of the pan ? Brass or plastic chunks ?

it seems like there is a couple of really tiny pieces of metal, not very much though. That’s about it. Will wd-40 be alright instead of brake cleaner?

Just cleaned out all of the solenoids with brake cleaner. Gasket still looks good might just use it again. A couple of them looked dirty. I am just wondering if there is anything else I should check or do before I piece it back together now.

Seem to almost hook up after it was all said and done. I wonder if I’m levelling the truck right. It was just studdering trying to go in drive.

I put a level on the transmission where the bolts are that bolt the pan onto the transmission. And then wait for temperature, then drain through the overfill hole till it trickles, more like a thin stream.

Might take another crack at levelling it tomorrow, maybe just park it on level ground and not bother jacking the front end up the way I have been.

Sorry , I was out last night .
Not liking what I saw in the transmission pan .
It explains why you have a loss of forward . Too much metal and alluminum .
Your valve body is going to be hung up .
I know there is low mileage on the truck , but I am assuming it has been started and stopped every day in freezing temperatures since new and then travelling very short distances ?
Very low mileage but very high hours ?

Damn, yes usually short distances. Gets about up to -50 to -55 for a few months, when we use it the most to get around too. Seems like it more than likely needs a new transmission now.

    I agree .
I know how cold it gets . I also live close to Nunavit .
Although I am 1000 miles South of you , it also gets very cold here as well .
I beleive it was only a matter of time .
That being said , possibly a blessing in disguise for small slip up like this to happen .
    Its summer .
Should give you enough time to find another transmission .
I think we could get you moving forward again with the transmission that is currently in the truck , however , judging by the brass and metal in the pan , I do not beleive temporary fixes will hold up enough to get you through
    another winter .

Your cheapest bet would be a second hand transmission with low miles .
A more expensive but better alternative would be an overhauled transmission with a 3 to 5 year warranty .
I also undersrtand shipping is going to be very expensive .

When you purchase an overhauled transmission , they want your old core back or you end up paying more.
Maybe you can get a deal at Epyls garage ?
Where do you guys order parts from ?? Thompson Manitoba ?
    I beleive thats the closest

Does the back list that it’s WS compliant? If it does, it’s compatible, if it doesn’t it’s incompatible.
