4 cylinder water pump 118,000 miles.
    Lost a little coolant.
    Hot summer days.
    No big deal.
Weep hole is loosing more than evaporating coolant.
Preparing for a short road trip.
    3 hours each way.
    Replace it now.
Just info for other members. Mileage / replacement.

My 2.4L 2004 1st Gen Tacoma did the same - loss thru weep hole. Strangely enough this happened at 65K miles. Replaced with dealer pump.

For a replacement 4 cylinder WP, you can get an Aisin from Rock Auto that is the same as the OE pump. The only difference is they mill off the "Toyota" name on the casting for the aftermarket part.

I changed mine probably at 50k; no leaks, but it was making noise when cold.

I just one for my 4.0 and you’re not lying. They literally milled off the Toyota stamp. I was wondering if it was fake or used but I guess not.

What was the mileage that the original one lasted? What indicated that it needed replacement? Just curious as mine is a 2010.

Good news, after 9 years and 150,000 miles my original water pump is still going strong. I have changed the coolant a few times, and replaced the hoses and thermostat last year just as preventative maintenance. For the $80 I paid for this water pump, I don't mind having it on hand in case my water pump does poop the bed. That way I can replace it and have minimum downtime, no more than a day off work. But as of right now, my original pump is still working perfectly.

Yes, I just bought an Aisin pump as a spare. To me, with 150K on my Taco, it's worth keeping as a spare. Even though I have changed the coolant several times with Aisin brand pink coolant, which I believe is the OEM coolant.

Last week I changed my alternator with a Denso rebuild, but I am keeping my core to refurb as a spare. The old alternator was still good but I had the time, money and desire to change it out, so I did.
