Can anyone please point me in the right direction to the appropriate tsb regarding the clutch chirping. My truck makes no noise when the pedal is depressed but as soon as you release it the chirping begins. This problem just started. Truck only has 48k miles on it. I also have the platinum warranty if that matters any.

Yes. It will make the chirping whether or not the truck is moving or whether its in neutral or in gear. If the clutch pedal is pushed down, the noise goes away. If the clutch pedal is all the way up, then the noise is present. The pedal only has to be pushed 1" for the noise to go away completely.

    This is the best advice.

Out of warranty some have had different fixes. Replace the TO themselves or, the cheap way, slightly preload the TO bearing a tad more. A number of people have traveled many miles doing the later.

Inside the clutch slave cylinder is a spring. The purpose of it is to put a few pounds of force on the clutch release fork so there is constant contact of the clutch pressure plate and the TO bearing. It turns all the time.

The TO bearing usually starts singing because the grease inside has gone dry, an insufficient amount was used during manufacturer, or the bearings have changed their wear pattern in the raceway as it ages.

It goes quiet when more load is placed on it because the bearings are moved into a slightly new wear pattern that has been previously unused.

Mudsock, how did this work out? Was it covered under warranty? I had the chirping and didn't think anything of it. Now the clutch is slipping. Strange it just started w the weather dropping to near/below freezing. 56k on the truck so I am not happy at all.

Sorry for the slow reply. Yes it was the throw out bearing. It was covered under my warranty. I had the platinum factory warranty on it.
