Guys I did some searches but could not find the answer I needed.

Installing a URD Y Pipe with O2 bungs.

Installing DTLT headers. The headers have two bungs each for o2 sensors. One is in a primary tube and the other is in the collector.

I have the URD O2 sims, so I will be installing the 4 o2 sensors.

Where is the optimum o2 location in the headers, collector or primary tube?

The collector's one is for the OEM AFR sensor. The one installed only on one tube is if you want to install an AFR gauge in the truck.

The other 2 on the Y pipe are for the O2 sensor that are monitoring catback. The URD O2 sim has to be installed on those ones.

Thank You. I was questioning to myself why the previous owner of the headers had the collector port capped and was sensing on the primary.

    Thanks

Justus, you probably have 2 bungs on your Y pipe so you have that possibility. With the stock Y-pipe you dont have this possibility. With my DTLT and spec U exhaust i've put the OEM in the 3-1 collector of the header and my gauge in the Y pie.

The bungs in the primary tubes of the headers were originally for the OEM WRAF sensors. After much discussion and many people modding them themelves, URD persuaded Doug Thorley to add bungs into the collectors.

The reason that the bungs were originally in the primaries is that the oem sensor harness reaches right there and not all the way to the collector. So the only way to get the front sensors to the collector was to make sensor extensions.

Once the sensor extension were found to be made by Caspers Electronics, then it all fell into place. URD got DT to add collector bungs, and started selling sensor harness extension so the WRAF sensors could be installed into the collectors.

The O2 sensors go into the Y-pipe, just as before, in the stock y-pipe. Installed the O2 simulator in those sensors. Dummy proof anyway since the plugs only match with the O2 sensors and not the WRAF sensors.

You'd need to compare the plugs of the WRAF sensor and the O2 sensor to that one in the picture, to verify which sensor that extension is for.

URD has both the WRAF and O2 extension harnesses as well. More easily labeled to distinguish between.

With out the WRAF extension harness, the WRAF sensors will not be able to reach the collectors. They will have. To be installed into the primary tube and will only read one cylinder from each bank.

Ironically I did check the URD site for the harnesses and could not find them.

Thanks Torspd, I was looking in the plug and play harnesses section. I will get the two harnesses coming from URD.

    Thanks

im looking to get dtlt but i live in a place that requires emissions testing.... but when i first took it in the shop had a computer that plugged in the dash instead of actually checking the exhaust. should i be able to get away with it having the o2 sims as there wont be any CEL?

I did the install a few days ago. I held off on the extension harnesses until I knew I wanted to keep it all installed.

Pretty easy install. Was able to do it without help and somehow the left side oem manifold and DTLT header went in easily without messing with the steering shaft.

I have been watching the scan gauge instantaneous MPG numbers. We'll see how the fuel mileage averages on this tank of fuel but highway mileage at the same speed seems much better.

I'm running a stock cat back, the setup is not too loud, but does need a resonator or something to kill some of the rasp at certain loads / RPMs.

Need to order the extension harnesses next.

Any suggestions on a resonator or other add in to calm the rasp?

Read through @Justus build thread. I'll eventually be going the same route as he did, except replacing his Flowmaster with something different. Maybe a Magnaflow.

@toendanger has a great exhaust system as well IMHO.
