I know that the factory rebates vary by region, but when the new rebates were announced at the beginning of May, they went from $1500 for an '09 Tacoma DC to $1000 here in Arizona.

Have you checked on this? My dealer said right now you can't even order a truck.

When you do special order your likely going to be paying full retail/window price!!! And my brother used to work for a large Toyota Dealer in Orange County and told me that when people come in asking for a ‘special order’ all they really do is take your deposit, charge you full price then just wait around until they receive a truck that matches what you asked for.

I wish I had remembered more details, but one of the dealers told me, when I got my truck just last saturday, that the 2010's are going to have a much more fuel efficient engine. Think he said they are going to a twin cam? But I thought they already had that on the V6s....

This has not been my experience at all. I had to special order a truck back in late March because none were available close to the options I wanted in the Gulf State region (OK, TX, AK, MS, AL). The dealer put in an "order preference" with their next inventory lot and it was accepted by the manufacturer. The truck with the EXACT options I asked for made it to the distributor last week and should be at the dealership for me to purchase later this week.

I also disagree with paying full price for it. The dealership put in a preference request against their current inventory they were ordering. This means the truck requested for me replaced a more generic truck they were going to order. For example, if they were ordering 30 standard Tacos they are now ordering 29 + my special order. As I see it I'm taking a Tacoma off their lot fresh off the boat so to speak. No downtime keeping the truck in their lot for weeks at a time until they can offload it.

I will certainly be getting my Taco at least close to invoice. I have no qualms about walking out and leaving them with a truck they can't move if they try and screw me. I have my consumer reports info in my hand, notes about their financial forecast, a pre-approval letter from a bank for a low finance rate, quotes for random equipment I plan on buying from their parts department (granted at a discounted internet price that they run), etc.

    Cheers!

Try a different dealer? I know you do pay full window sticker pricing but it may be worth it...

That was what I was thinking assuming you could find what you wanted.

In theory, will they include all the '09 TSBs on the 2010 model?
