    Nice thread, as usual David.

I'll definitely be down there for the race. I only have Wed and Thursday off so we'll be heading down to Contingency on Wed morning then heading out to somewhere near heroes de la independencia. We'll camp out and watch the race on thursday. Unfortunately, since we couldn't get friday off as well, we'll be heading back to SD thursday afternoon/night.

    Good times down in baja!

Too bad you can't stay for the weekend and need to do the border so soon.

Netflix or rent the movie 'Dust to Glory' to get an idea of the diversity of this race and how Baja has affected all of us who have been there!

You're not kidding! Each race takes 2 weeks between trailering out, setup, tech and contingency, the race itself, post-race stuff, loading up, and heading home.

I try to make the most of it with a lot of sight-seeing during the drive back and forth. :)

Do yourself a favor, go out and purchase or rent (I would say purchase because you'll watch it over and over and over again) the movie Dust to Glory. You wont regret it I promise!!

I just watched it for the x number of times again this morning:D

Sorry, didn't take the time to read second page before posting, what he said:

After seeing this thread I went and rented Dust to Glory and that is an amazing hour and some change. I was engrosed through the entire thing. Thinking now I may try to plan a trip to next years Baja race just to witness it in person.

The fastest racers average between 50 and 60 mph.

The bikes start at 6:30 am (Pacific), 1 every 30 seconds.

The full size 4 wheeled vehicles will start approx. 11:30 am... also one every 30 seconds.

Find your location for the race and see the Race Mile for that location.

Take the race mile, divide by 50 to 60, and get the hours to that point (for the first racers)... add that to the start time... Remember to add an hour if in Baja Sur for Mountain Time!

Does anyone know any information on a collision between a race truck and a 15 passenger van in or around Ensenada? The driver and passenger were from here in Nebraska and were down there doing missions work. I guess one is in critical condition.

The race hasn't started yet... so it may have been with someone 'pre-running' to check the course earlier. If I see anything about it on the Baja forums, I will let you know... as of 5 pm, nothing.
