I think the 16 team conference is a great thing. If the big 10 adds teams the Sec will have to follow. This is a huge step towards a playoff.

so now if you have 16 teams in Pac10, SEC, big10 the other auto bid conferences will also have to grow. The big 10 will more than likely take some teams from the big east and the SEC would take some teams from the ACC and the left over ACC and Big east teams combine to get 16 and that lends it self to set up nicely for a play off.

 

Honestly I would rather Texas go to the SEC because I have more interest in those teams but Texas says flat out they wont join the SEC. Apparently there is bad blood there going way back. I think its going to suck having to play the lower tier teams in the pac 10. Anyone else notice the start times of 10pm for west coast games? Shit if your on the east time zone the games dont start untill 11pm.

Would have to disagree with you man. The SEC set the perfect standard in college athletics as far as number of universities. Every football season, LSU for example, plays Florida and all the teams in the SEC-West, and the other teams from the SEC-East on a rotation. With the exception of Miami, Fla State, and Clemson, the other teams in the region just don't come close to reaching the prestige of an SEC school. It'd be stupid to just add "anybody" to reach a number that some think is ideal when we are perfectly happy with the system as it is now. I am enjoying watching the conference shuffle with other conferences, but I think the SEC will have to sit out this dance.

Now, I honestly think we should get to a playoff system. But I don't know that it would require the 16-university mega-conferences to do it. Take the best teams in the country (by the BCS Standings) and put them in a bracket. Let them duke it out one game at a time. Like baseball and basketball do. Maybe only like a sweet 16 type deal, so only the teams that deserve to be in contention get a shot at it. IDK, that's just my 2 cents. Somebody, somewhere, is figuring out a perfect solution, and he makes a shit-load more money than I do to think about it.

 

The SEC will have to expand if everyone else does. I doubt they will just sit back as the only conference with less than 16 teams. Hell even the mountain west grabbed Boise while they could. Expansion is the future. NO stopping it now.

 

There's no need to fix something if it isn't broken. The SEC can keep it's 12 teams and win more titles than any other conference- even if they have more teams. It's quality, not quantity.

Apparently texas a&m had a meeting with pac-10 officials this morning and declined their offer to join the conference. The University of Texas has stated that if a&m does not join the conference with them and decides to go to the SEC that Texas will no longer schedule any games in any sport with a&m. That will be the end of 100+ yeas of rivalry.

what is it with the UT (the fake one ) officials? Why do they insist that they are the grand pubah and all their other rivals are noting more than dependant bitches? can aTm not make their own decisions on where they think they fit in the best. Im sorry A&M seems more like a SEC school than a PAC-756. I don't see why texas needs to give the aggies the silent treatment because they didn't follow them to the left coast. I guess Texas will be really pissed when Oklahoma follows to the SEC

texas needs to get over itself. Telling A&M that it won't schedule any games with them if they don't follow to the PAC-10 is like a little kid taking his ball and going home because nobody else likes the rules the way he wants them. What a bunch of bitch-babies... throwing out 100 years of rivalries b/c they won't follow the leader.

Looks like our top recruit Demar Dorsey was shot down by admission. Well, that doesnt help our horrible secondary! Wonder where he will end up now?

This week will be huge in determining where everyone ends up. Texas has meetings on Tuesday to discuss the Pac 10. If they go, the pieces will fall quickly. Looks like kansas, kstate, baylor, iowa state and missou are looking to keep the big 12 together to make sure they still have an automatic BCS bid. I can see it now...Baylor vs Kstate in the big 12 championship. Baylor to the Orange bowl! lol
