    This.

    Was I disappointed when UGA started out 1-4? Yea. Did I change which team I rooted for? No. I didn't expect wins like normal, but I'm still a fan. It's easy to root for someone who's winning. You find out who the real fans are during the down years. Someone who decides to not like "their team" just because they're not winning isn't really a fan of that team.

    You didn't go in and edit his original? The way he was talking it didn't sound like he was going to come out and say he was a fair-weather fan. I wnt and looked at his original and it doesn't say what you quoted. Of course, he could have mistyped then come back and corrected.

    Regardless... Fair-weather fans can suck it.

    I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
    shit. i don't want to be number 1 especially before a road game. mws4ua, we need auburn to stay number 1 no matter what. I'm praying that we stay number one and bama sneak up to number 4 before we play. seriously, for the sake of the sec west...

    Herbstreit is such a douche. What, you didn't think that 2004 Auburn team could play with anyone on a neutral field?

    Here's news for you. Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, even South Carolina could play with anyone on any given day on a neutral field. That doesn't mean they all deserve to play for the national title.

    I don't care if he picked Auburn to win the SEC West preseason. I hate that douchebag.

    So Auburn has done it, they've made their way to the top of the BCS.... hopefully we stay there.

    Auburn is where they need to be. AU/Oregon should be the BCS title game. Better hope the 1st place jinx doesn't catch them. I highly doubt AU will lose 2 games, so I'm hoping they win out. My biggest concern is LSU also winning out and whoever gets their ass handed to them in the SECC having a worse record than my Tigers. That should put us in the Sugar bowl. I can't see them denying a one-loss SEC team that right.

    Man though, just thinking about that national title game. That's going to be a huge, high scoring event!

    The Sugar Bowl is for the #1 team in the SEC... if the #1 team is in the National Championship it goes to the #2 team.

    Which would be LSU if y'all win out. As much as I want Bammer to be near the top of the rankings when we play them, I just CAN'T pull for them to win.

    Yes, it is for the winner of the SECC. But if that team goes to the NC, they do not have to take the loser of that game. Why would they choose a 3 or 4 loss team from the east when they could have a 1 loss team from the west?

    Here's the way selection goes:
    Team Selection Procedures
    The bowls will select their participants from two pools: (1) automatic qualifiers, all of which must be selected, and, (2) at-large teams, if fewer than 10 teams qualify automatically. The following sequence will be used when establishing pairings:

    1. The top two teams in the final BCS Standings will be placed in the National Championship Game ("NCG").

    2. Unless they qualify to play in the NCG, the champions of selected conferences are contractually committed to host selected games:

    Atlantic Coast Conference-Orange Bowl
    Big Ten Conference-Rose Bowl
    Big 12 Conference-Fiesta Bowl
    Pac-10 Conference-Rose Bowl
    Southeastern Conference-Sugar Bowl
    3. If a bowl loses a host team to the NCG, then such bowl shall select a replacement team from among the automatic-qualifying teams and the at-large teams before any other selections are made. If two bowls lose host teams to the NCG, each bowl will get a replacement pick before any other selections are made. In such case, the bowl losing the No. 1 team gets the first replacement pick, and the bowl losing the No. 2 team gets the second replacement pick. If the Rose Bowl loses both the Big Ten and Pac-10 champions to the NCG, it will receive two replacement picks.

    (For the games of January 2011 through 2014, the first year the Rose Bowl loses a team to the NCG and a team from the non-AQ group is an automatic qualifier, that non-AQ team will play in the Rose Bowl.)

    A bowl choosing a replacement team may not select any of the following:

    A. A team in the NCG;
    B. The host team for another BCS Bowl;
    C. When two bowls lose host teams, then the bowl losing the number one team may not select a replacement team from the same conference as the number two team, unless the bowl losing the number two team consents.
    4. After steps No. 1, 2 and 3 have been completed, any bowl with an unfilled slot shall select a team from the automatic qualifiers and/or at-large teams in the following order for the games played in 2007 through 2010:

    A. The bowl played on the date nearest to the National Championship Game will pick first;
    B. The bowl played on the date second-nearest to the National Championship Game will pick second;
    C. The bowl hosting the game that is played in the time slot immediately after the Rose Bowl game will pick third.
    The selection order noted in paragraphs A, B and C is as follows:
    January 2011 games: Sugar, Orange, Fiesta
    January 2012 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange
    January 2013 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange
    January 2014 games: Orange, Sugar, Fiesta

    All teams earning automatic berths must be selected.

    5. After completion of the selection process as described in Paragraph Nos. 1-4, the conferences and Notre Dame may, but are not required to, adjust the pairings taking into consideration the following:

    A. whether the same team will be playing in the same bowl game for two consecutive years;
    B. whether two teams that played against one another in the regular season will be paired against one another in a bowl game;
    C. whether the same two teams will play against each other in a bowl game for two consecutive years; and
    D. whether alternative pairings may have greater or lesser appeal to college football fans as measured by expected ticket sales for the bowls and by expected television interest, and the consequent financial impact on Fox and the bowls.
    The pairings may not be altered by removing the Big Ten Champion or Pac-10 champion from the Rose Bowl.

    Future BCS Championship Game Locations
    2011 Glendale, AZ
    2012 New Orleans
    2013 Miami
    2014 Pasadena

    I'd say the 2nd place team in the SEC isn't the loser of the SECCG... but yes it is just an SEC team.

    Ahh, I see what you're saying. Sorry I originally misinterpreted. Yes, IMO, if we win out it'd be us. If Bama wins out it would be them. (If auburn only loses the iron bowl and could still snatch the NC invite somehow.)

    My apologies.

    If Alabama wins out, and auburn loses the Iron Bowl, how exactly would auburn sneak into the NC game? At that point, Alabama would be the only team in the SEC with a shot at the NC, b/c we would be on our way to ATL to play for the SECC. You can't go to the NC w/o winning your conference. It happened w/ OU once, but they fixed the rule. Plus... Alabama would be ahead of AU in the polls (assuming Alabama wins out and wins the IB, rather than losing one along they way, then wins the IB).

    Not taking anything away from Nebraska...for some reason UT has had their number. That being said, anyone find it surprising that Nebraska is a 7 point favorite going into this week's game with Missouri?

    I'm not sure what else Mizzou has to do to prove they are really good this year. And NU has not been playing nearly as well in Lincoln as they usually do. Vegas knows something we dont' I guess.

    Good point. Some reason in my mind I had Bama with two losses if they win out, which is not the case. The situation I think I meant to describe was a two loss Bama team beating an undefeated Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

    I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
    if alabama loses before they play us in the iron bowl, and they beat us, they would be ranked too high to get the jump high enough for an NC invite. This is why both teams need to win out until the IB and be as closely ranked as possible. Not to mention if alabama is a 2 loss and auburn is undefeated, we will still go to the SECCG because well only have one loss.

    I think I would hate that scenario more than just about any other. I mean, there would be satisfaction in (possibly) keeping auburn out of the NC game, but Alabama's goal isn't to beat auburn. It's to win an SEC Championship.
