Think of it this way, things can only go up from here... but please, don't take anymore of our coordinators.
What about giving them Ted Roof? :p Though he's stepped his game up the last half of the Bama game and SEC Championship. So i dunno.

That's funny, we were talking last night about the very same thing. I was calling for his head at the first of the season, and now, I'm not sure he is not a keeper. In his own words, "I need a quarter to see what they are trying to do". One things for sure, AU DOES make good adjustments at halftime or sooner. Tubs, never did. If the game plan worked it did, if not AU wasn't going to change it. Now don't get me wrong I liked TT, but with any lead he would sit on it, and he did not make good adjustments.

Gus Malzahn has been offered Vandy's head coachin job. Good luck with that one.

We'll see. I think we've got a counter-offer for Malzahn. Hopefully he wouldn't go to Vandy, NOBODY can turn that program around. I think he realizes that, but doesn't mean he won't try.

He's going to make his decision tonight, or tomorrow morning.

Malzahn would be a fool not to take the Vandy job. If he can get them 7 wins and a bowl game once or twice his name will be just as hot as it is right now. Auburn can't match a HC offer for an OC.

Even if they pay him $1m/year to be OC (which would be way too much, IMO), he's still be losing money to pass up the Vandy job.

Nobody will turn Vandy around, but he doesn't have to in order to springboard into a major job. I've said before, his stock is as high as it's going to get. He should jump on something like this.

But name 1 coach that has gone on to be successful after taking the head coaching job at Vandy? I think there was 1 coach maybe, but I don't remember who it was, and he's not at a major job now.

Great points from the two previous posts, but these guys have egos that make there thinking a little skewed. I just heard the number from Vandy was 3 mil., if thats the case, he's gone...

It's 1.6 with incentives that would make it 3.

I just read, AU offered $1.3. But who knows what to believe anymore.

If there's really an offer from Auburn for $1.3m that's nuts! So much money for a non-head coach. Good for him if he demands that much, though.

I still thinks he takes the Vandy job, though. He has an ego (like they all do) and even if few have gone from Vandy to greatness, he'll probably think he could do it. I think he could, too. Seriously, win 7 games there and you're a king.

Auburn won't be as good next year. They could drop off further than Bama this year with all that they'll lose. He knows it better than anybody.

    Get while the gettin's good.

And if he can still continue to run his offense, and we play well next year, i think there will be bigger offers than Vandy running in.

I think some of our assistants are paid too much, too, FWIW.

You may have some good OL guys coming in, but your whole current line (which has been the key to your success) is gone next year. If you exceed expectations on offense next year, you're still not back in the NC. he can't realistically hope to look better after next year than he does right now.

Just ask our OC... He should have taken a HC position after last year. Maybe he thought he'd do as well (or better) this year with everything we had coming back... We all know how that turned out.

I don't have a rooting interest, really, so don't think I'm on here hoping he skips out on you guys just bc I'm a Bama fan. I just think he'll go.

If it were anywhere other than Vandy, I'd agree.. but honestly, playing Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, and now South Carolina year in and year out... big schools it would be hard to win even a few of your SEC games.

I'd think if you were to go somewhere else, take a job with a chance of success. I don't personally see Vandy as a stepping stone for his career.

Hearing on the radio now that some ESPN blogger is reporting that Malzahn has removed himself from the running in the Vandy job. Radio guys are making some good points...

In a similar situation, Muschamp at Texas looked pretty good last year when his team was undefeated and playing for the NC... this year the team pooped itself, and he ended up as HC of Florida.

I guess we'll know a year from now if it was a good decision to stay. I'm sure the Ducks are disappointed, though.
