So you are saying because Auburn kept them to 19 points it says the Pac 10 defenses must have been soft for them to run up so many points. But again I ask, Auburn was averaging 42 pts a game (like 2 behind Oregon) and Oregon kept them to their 2nd lowest point total of the season. So then you are saying either Oregon's defense was that good to all but shut down one of the if not the top offense in the SEC? Something S.C., Arkansas, Alabama, LSU and Georgia couldn't do? Or were the rest of the SEC defenses not that strong this year either? It's kind of a catch 22 as an outsider. All over the internet it's all these SEC fans bragging how they shut down another powerhouse offense but they fail to see that the other team equally shut down their offense (this time - in years past not so much). That's all I am saying. This was not the "dominant" we kicked the crap outta these other conferences of years past (read anyone vs Ohio State), this was a highly competitive football game. And also, let's remember there is 1 team that never had a fair chance to even play for the National Title - so can we get a Plus 1 game? or a playoff please????? I saw a stat this morning that since 2004 there have been like 7 teams finish undefeated in Division 1 football and never even have a chance to play for the National Title. In college sports, ANY team can beat ANY team on a given day (just look at the NCAA March Madness EVERY year). Though I think the bigger shame will come to the whole NCAA when 5 years from now they find out - damn Cam did know his dad was pimping him out and then we won't have a National Champ or a Heisman Trophy winner and there was something they could have done to prevent it and failed to.

No. If Auburn had an actual passer instead of a hybrid qb, it's a rout. Scam missed 3 wide open receivers that would have been touchdowns, including the one he short armed about 4 yards from the endzone that ended in the FG instead of a TD. I completely blame the lack of points on Auburn/Scam.

But the same can be said for Oregon's QB - the dude had 350+ yards but 2 horrible picks and the play calling inside the Red Zone by Chippy was just BAD! lol

WOW. Good game. Not as high scoring as I thought it was gonna be. We shut Cam down pretty decent and that was our goal. At least it was close and fun to watch. Way to go AU!

    Awesome!

    x2

 I guess LSU turned out to be the NEW dream job for him. Awaiting the press conference when he returns to BR today. I really wish he'd get a new OC if he's going to stay. That idiot is going to end up costing him his job.

    Geaux Tigers!

Technically... No, Oregon didn't equally shut down Auburn's offense. (22-19)

Also, this isn't an argument against your point, but there have been MANY teams over the years (pre-BCS) that went undefeated and weren't awarded a national title. In that regard, the current system isn't all that different.

And besides, the current system allows for a split national championship (see LSU/USC from 2003). If the AP voters believed that TCU deserved to be a national champion, they could have voted that way. They didn't. Just because they didn't have a chance to play in the BCS game doesn't mean they didn't have a shot at a title.

On college teams' ability to beat each other: First, please don't compare Basketball and Football. That's just silly. Second, since 1949, the top-ranked team going into the NCAA tournament has won the championship 20 times (33%). That's a pretty high number. And if you look back over the last 10 champions, I bet you won't find the equivalent of football's Boise State or TCU or Fresno State. The last ten winners: Duke, UNC, Kansas, Florida, Florida, UNC, UConn, Syracuse, Maryland, Duke... I see a whole lot of "Alabamas" and "Ohio States" and "Southern Cals" in there... Yes, Butler and Memphis have come close in recent years, but did they actuall win? No. I think the last "little guy" to win it all was UNLV, who beat Duke in 1990.

Again, I'm not saying your entire point is invalid... I'm just saying that even in college basketball, with their (now) 68 team tournament that is hailed by all as a better way to crown a champion, the traditional powers and/or big schools still usually win.

Can't blame him for stayin in the SEC...I'm sure any of the SEC Schools (Besides Vandy) are lookin like a dream job right now.

I say the same thing about Richt. Unless he gets rid of Bobo, he won't be at UGA after next year. And that's a shame, I really like Richt. But I honestly think a 2nd grader could call plays better than Mike Bobo.
